Santa Ana Winds & Yorkies don't Mix!
 
Here is a video from my phone (really bad but you'll hopefully be able to see it).

I took Jazzie, Jolie & Jen to work with me today because the fire in Orange County was getting close to my home and didn't want to take a chance.

This is them on their morning break - It doesn't hav the preview but if you click on the "Arrow" it plays. -

Wow... Please know you are in my prayers and thoughts. I have family in North San Diego County (thats where I grew up) They are ALL on watch. I have family in Escondido, Carlsbad and Oceanside. Our middle son lives in Woodland Hills (inland from Malibu) This is very scary! Please be safe and you are in my prayers. :lovewings

Hey Corinne!! Argh! I've been away past 3 days and cannot believe what we came home too!! When we were coming in to land at John Wayne yesterday, it was terrifying. There was ZERO visibilty out the plane window; the plane was bouncing around like crazy.... all you could see was brown "fog". I was sooooo scared.

How close are you to the fire??!!! Are you up near the 261/Santiago Canyon junction? Your poor girls! Have they been acting nervous? Looking at their video, their little faces while the wind blows them around.....makes me want to scoop them right up. Thank goodness you could take them to work with you;otherwise you would fret and worry the whole day, wandering about them.

With the fires last year, I could see the flames from the hill we live on. Made me very nervous. There is so much dry brush in Yorba Linda, and with these winds, I must say I am concerned.

Please keep us updated. If you are nervous after work, please call me. You can bring the girls to my house if you don't feel like going home, or if you think they will be skittish where you are.

You guys be safe out there in California. Good thing the girls are
tied to that leash or they would be flying Yorkies. It's very scary
what's going on there. I watched the News last night and my heart
breaks for everyone involved. Those poor exhusted firefighters and
the poor families who are helpless to do anything to help themselves.
What devestation. Please be safe.

We are all fine. Thank you for your prayers for our safety.

The fire came to about a mile from my house. I was really concerned about flying embers setting fire to the hills behind my home. By the time I got to work, the wind changed directions.

I can see the fire on my way to work - took me an hour longer to get to work on Monday.

Now the fire has moved about 10 miles to the south/west of us.

I haven't let the girls outside because of the smoke & ash. It's really errie at sunset because of all the smoke from the OC & the Lake Arrowhead fires.

Please keep on praying for eveyone's safety - especially for the brave men and women out there fighting the fires.

That must have been so nerve wracking for you being on the plane. Thank goodness the pilot was staying sharp and landing the plane safely.

I live right where the 261 and Santiago Canyon comes together. The fire actually did jump the 261 but the FD got that out really quick. Thank goodness since right where it jumped the 261, there is a wilderness park on the other side of Jamboree (Peter's Canyon Park). Had that caught on and not contained, it would have gone up Orange Hills and I'm at the bottom of the hill on the opposite side.

Remember GiGi that came to the first meet-up with her husband? She lives a block away from where the fire jumped the 261.

My Uncle and BIL live in Lake Arrowhead area (Uncle-Cedar Glen; BIL-Running Springs) they are both safely off the mountain, but they don't know if they will have a home to go back to - Please keep up the prayers.

OMG Corinne! I cannot believe how close you were! I know exactly where you are talking about - I drive that route so often! You poor thing.... how nervewracking for you. Do you know if Gigi's house is OK?? Oh, I just pray that your Uncle and BIL have an untouched home to go back to! Running Springs on the news tonight, looked like a terrifying place for all the residents. I so feel for them, cannot imagine the fear they must feel. Well, as long as the people remain safe, things can always be replaced.
Thank goodness the winds have died down tonight. I think we will all sleep easier for it.

Oh goodness! I'm just now seeing this thread Corinne! I'm glad to hear the fire turned away and you and the girls are safer. It smells of smoke so badly every time we go outside, and while Matt and I were in Anaheim over the weekend, we were getting hit with all the falling ash! I was so mad when I got to the MetroLink station this morning only to find out all Orange County train service from Oceanside to LA was cancelled due to the fires at Camp Pendleton area (except for a few trains later on that they're coordinating with Amtrak to pick up the MetroLink customers), but hearing how your family doesn't even know if they have a house to go back to really puts it in perspective. I drove to the office today, and I will be teleworking from home starting tomorrow until the train service gets up and running again...but at least I have a home to work from! Please keep yourself and your family safe and let me know if you need anything! Other than smelling it and receiving the ash, we haven't actually seen much of the fire at our house so far, so we're here if you need us.

Thank you Lisa! We are all doing fine. Just haven't been able to let the girls out for walks yet because of the bad air.

Thinking of you and glad to hear you are safe. I have been glued to the news and evacuations. How dangerous for our animals to breath in all of the toxicity in the air.

Hopefully, tomorrow will bring a change in the weather. It is unbelievable to even imagine the devastation of homes.

WOW! The kids were lucky they stayed on the ground, talk about the wind blown look! They are as cute as ever, and I am so happy you and the girls are safe and sound........
