Jillie (and Eddie) go swimming We don't get a lot of opportunities to swim in Alaska, but I was quite proud of Jillie catching on today! :) I've always been jealous of YT's Yorkie swimmers. https://youtu.be/HmvTBHD1eNQ |
Omg , that was too cute . Your dogs are adorable . That little girl is precious . The way she dove in after that frisbee . She looked like a little motor boat and her tail was the rudder :D |
OMG Mike, they are absolutely adorable and loving the swimming, how kewl is that, little Jilly is fearless. I have been searching my area for places to take Cody swimming, pool invites are few and far between lol. I love how Jilly jumps in for the Frisbee, song is perfect for them lol. Thanks for sharing. |
I think Jillie start to enjoy it. Love her little jump before grabbing the frisbee. I think Eddie was less impressed. Lol. Love the video and music |
This is SO cute!!! They look like they're having so much fun :) I wish there was a place around here that I could bring Tink to and swim. |
That video really put a smile on my face. Soooo cute. |
Aww, thanks for the kind words. That place opened a couple years ago but I'd only been a couple times because I wasn't sure they enjoyed it. It's not cheap (intro session $25, then $35) so I mostly stayed away. But we recently were given 4 gift certificate sessions for the therapy dog work they do at the hospital, and swimming finally clicked for Jillie! I'm so happy to have a swimmer! And even though Eddie isn't sure about it yet, he had fun playing on the side. Gonna have to find a way to work it into our budget! |
Great video! |
Mike I must have watched this video 15 times lol, Jillie was having so much fun with the Frisbee, she's such a little trouper lol. All my passed girls LOVED to swim (no life jackets) . I would take them to a pvt lake every week end. This place is not accepting any more members so Cody loses out. I love to watch dogs swimming they have so much fun. Your pups are just too cute. |
Aww, thanks Joan! Happy the video has gone viral at your house :) It takes a confident Yorkie to swim, I think. And at their size, I think such self-assuredness is a challenge. |
1 Attachment(s) Last year Cody was 3 y/o, we had a pool invite from a friend of mine. My friend was in the pool, Cody saw my friends legs under the water and went into a frenzy, he must have thought the legs were monsters lol. he jump off the pool step to attack the monsters lol, that was the first time he ever swam, when he realized there was no ground beneath his feet his eyes got as big as saucers lol, I had him on a retractable leash and reeled him in lol. Later I went into the pool still holding on to the retractable, he flew off the step and swam to me with his saucer eyes lol. this year i got him a life jacket like Jillie has, I am dieing to use it and see what his reaction is this year using it. I am hoping he loses the saucer eyes lol. If you feel it takes a confident yorkie to tackle swimming, this boy has it lol. I can't get over how fast Jillie learned were the ramp was lol so cute. I attached a photo of Cody trying to kill the monster beneath the water lol. |
Omg, that photo is hilarious! You can see Cody is in a frenzy! |
That is so cool. Great set up with the ramp like that to gain confidence gradually. Having a pool here, I taught all my dogs to swim early on, however, I am never sure if they would know to go to the steps to get out, if they fell in. We practice a couple times a month, but mainly they avoid the pool. |
The video was too cute. I loved watching how brave she was and watching how she mastered the turn-around. They are both adorable. |
