Ready? Catch It!
 
As some may know, I really wanted to teach Princess to catch her toys instead of ducking.:rolleyes::p So I took some YT advice & introduced it to her with some different toys, now she's addicted!

The first video is of her earlier attempts, the second shows that she's graduated to her ball. I had to weed through about 10 videos, she acted sooo different when I had the camera out! I was laughing hysterically!

I tried to stay out of view & quiet, but it just didn't happen.:rolleyes:
I thought I'd add, all of the recent training has been done strictly by praise, I'm so proud of this girl.:D

THAT IS JUST SO CUTE I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!! HOW DID YOU GET HER TO CATCH IT THE FIRST TIME - JUST USING SMALLER TOYS?:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I used this tiny tigger baby toy. All soft, no eyes. It bounced off her nose a few times & I think she went to grab it out of annoyance, so I praised like crazy & she ate it up! Now she's addicted! If I'm reclining on the couch she'll sit at my feet & insist I toss it there. LOL.

I'm trying that with Tibbe. Mostly he doesn't "get" that he should catch toys but should let them hit the ground and pounce on them in the attack mode.

BTW, every time I see your user name and title "Banning Queen" under it, the first thing I think for some reason is "Banned" and it scares me for just that split second. It is such a shock to see the work "Banned", I guess a word even close to it is shocking, too. Glad it is "Banning...." and not "Banned"!

Just ignore the "Banning Queen." That's what we do on the banning thread! :p

However, Christina may be the Catch Queen! Great vids, and Princess is doing awesome! It took me forever to teach Eddie to catch, and Jillie is hopeless.

Yes, I have seen your posts there and know why the title but still just the "Banning" word gets me for split second! Ha! You better never get truly Banned as you were here when I joined and one of my anchors here. Wouldn't know how to go on YT if Princess10 weren't here!!!

I've seen your throwdown matches on the Banning Thread with the Banning Queen!!! Makes my day. You are another anchor here and you, too, have just got to stick around or I can't be on YT!!! Some things have just got to always be.

P. S. Or should I say Steel Cage matches!?!?

Good job acknowledging that that's what I am, Mikey.:) And here I thought you were hopeless.:p;)

Princess is such a sucker for praise, it's so funny. I think it's her secret drug!:eek:;)

Tibbe is the same way! He lives for attention and praise. He would trade food for attention and words of praise. He's such an attention hog!

I got so excited when I saw you responded to this question on how to teach them. Unfortunately Monkey is always annoyed with me so not sure that would be motivation enough for him to catch on.

As an example, today we worked on our trainers assignment to speed up his reaction time to the "down" command. Assignment: Do 10 downs one right after the other as fast as you can. Well, let's just say our time was SLOW and then at about the 6th time I got him back up and said "down" he sat and gave me the look of "you have got to be kidding me...I was just down there!" And we had a staring contest. LOL!!!

I e-mailed my trainer for advise and was told to "up the ante on the treat" but I was giving him poached chicken breast. How much better does he want than home made chicken treats.

Sigh... like I said, he is always annoyed by me. LOL

Aww she is a good girl! What a great job you did in teaching her and always rewarded with praise. She really looks like she enjoys this game. :)
