introduction and would love some advice! Hi everyone, My name is Ana and i have been mama to Mimo since Sept 24. He's 11.5 weeks and just a joy! love love love him. i had never owned a small breed dog before, and i have to say so far, i am a convert. so, long story short, we have been offered Mimo's sister for free and i am in a conundrum! it's so much work to keep up with one, i'm afraid two will be too much. Of course there are a lot of pros to having them grow together, obviously, but we have a 13 yo german shepherd and two cats already. it's a handful! not to mention the 7 year old human. ;) so i would love to hear from you-- experiences about having sibling yorkies, pros, cons, all of it! thank you so much in advance. :) |
:2omg: oops! of course i had to go post this in the wrong forum! feel free to move to the main talk one. |
Question: Why are they giving you a free yorkie? It sounds like you've got quite a handful, and these guys are tough to keep up with as far as training needs go and if you aren't fully prepared to handle 2 terriers I would say no to a second. |

I think it's a great idea. Just remember to get them both fixed so that there are no embarassing accidents. It's fun with 2. They will actually help each other learn in my opinion. Just a thought, but when will you ever get another chance at a free Yorkie? |

that's what i'm thinking too-- two little ones might entertain each other and leave the senior in peace more of the time. :D bless her, she has the patience of a saint and plays a lot with Mimo, but she also lets him know when she's had enough. the cats... well they just are bitter about the whole affair. :p |
I would definitely do it! I love having my two yorkies together. They keep each other entertained and are both adorable. They will be a handful but to keep the other one from going to someone who might abouse her...I'd do it in a heartbeat! |
This is a hard decision and you have to think of all the pros and cons. Do you have a good history on the health of mommy & daddy... With the two so young without that information if there is any heredity medical issues you may end up with those costs TIMES 2; so you'd need to be sure to be ready if that was the case. Two can most definitely be a handful especially with your other dog as well as your 7 year old. You still have to make sure they each get their own 1:1 time with you as well. The plus side is that could be best of friends and keep each other company when you are not right there with them. It can be so exciting so the pros are easier to see. You need to make sure to think of every possible scenario to make sure you are ready for another before making your final decision. I wish you the best either way!!! Peggy, Monkey & Maddie :daisy: |

Go to the video "Yorkie Romp." It might help you to decide as these two seem to entertain themselves. |
