Princess is adjusting very well. She loves her big brother and follows him everywhere he goes. Alfie's still getting used to not being the only child anymore though so I limit their play time for now. Other than that, she's eating very well (Wellness for puppies) and just had her vet exam yesterday. The vet said she's a very healthy pup and couldn't stop complimenting her teeth. She's 11 weeks and weighs in at 2 lbs. I'm free feeding her though because she likes to eat very small amounts throughout the day.

The only thing I'm worried about right now is when I should get her spayed. My vet said probably around 6 months but other clinics can do it as soon as she turns 12 weeks. I'm trying to do some more research on it right now though to see what our best options are. All I know is that I want to spay her before her first heat.

Thank you to everyone for all your kind comments. She's such a joy and we love her so much already. I've uploaded a few pictures of her at home in her album so if you'd like to see more, you can always go there :)

I couldn't have said it any better!!! I know it had to be so hard to wait so patiently as you did, but it's so important! What a great bf to be so patient and kind too!!! Congratulations!!!!!

I'm so happy for you. I think Princess is a very lucky puppy to have joined your family and I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future!

It was just priceless how you allowed your new little darling her "time" to feel ok to come out of the carrier. I loved it! She looks like she found her fur-ever Mommy!

WOW 12 wks seems VERY early for spaying??? :confused:

Most shelters won't let animals go unless they are already spayed/neutered, so they have been doing juvenile procedures for years. As long as they weigh enough, not a problem. 12wks is fine, however, since you don't have to worry about heat until maybe 5mths, I'd consider waiting for 16-22 weeks so that she has a bit more weight on her. also, it would be nice be able to get any leftover baby teeth pulled at the same time to avoid a second surgery. I'd wait until all her big teeth are in, as well. Couldn't hurt.

I had my cats done (I have a boy and girl) when they were about 10wks. Went fine. It took me a long time to find a vet willing to do a juvenile procedure, they seem to think it should be reserved for shelters.. I don't know why.

That's what I thought too but I looked at all the animal clinics in my area and they all say they can spay as early as 12 weeks. I've been trying to find out some more information about whether spaying this early can be harmful for her. Most likely I'll wait it out a little longer because she's so tiny that we're free feeding her right now and I hear that after you spay your dog, you need to limit her meals to twice a day since she gains weight more easily. I would like Princess to be able to eat and gain a little more weight before I feel comfortable limiting her meals to twice a day.

I would wait until she is older. I just spayed my 3 lber at 8 months and she did great. She hadn't gone into heat, and healed very quickly. I think anything before 5 months is TOO early for a small breeds such as yorkies.

That video is soo cute, congrats on your new sweet furbaby.

I found this website (scottspuppypalace.com) & I saw this same video on there, did you get your baby from them?

Yes I did. Would I recommend purchasing from them? No. Like I told another YT member who inquired about who my breeder was, I really wish I found YT before we purchased Princess. I love her to death but I've learned that websites like theirs aren't good places to buy from. It's a tough lesson learned and I feel incredibly lucky to have received a healthy pup considering how suspicious their site seems. The owners were very nice and helpful but they advertise teacups and sell multiple breeds which I now know is a indicator of possible BYBs or puppy mills :(
