HAHA WHAT A GOOD Boy !! I didn't even know he had surgery Mike :( and watching him lookin around for an escape was so cute - I can just hear his thoughts........."Sheesh - been walkin and walkin going nowhere ..and daddy keeps telling me 'good boy' ..... did daddy lose his mind ? :confused: ....Where's the snow ? The trees .....the MOOSE ? I gotta get outta here and do some REAL walkin - I'll show him a good boy"!

Hi Shawn. Nah, I posted the video just this week. His surgery was around Thanksgiving. The water treadmill therapy just began.

I naively thought his recovery period was supposed to be 2 months, but it is two months of almost no activity and FOUR more months of physical therapy. What messed me up was how Jack recovered after his surgery. He was 100 percent the day he got his cast off, but his situation was different. He had been hobbling around on 3 legs for who knows how long and already had scar tissue built up in place of the meniscus they removed. Eddie doesn't. He's got to recover slower.

And Villette, LOL! I think that's EXACTLY what Eddie was thinking. What I need to do is get a stuffed moose to put behind him! ;)

Great to see he is recovering well!

Here is a link to some videos of Teddy Bear when he was doing the treadmill. I don't think the way they rig theirs, the pups can do what he did....you might want to share it with your physical therapist. There is a thing across the top and the leash that comes straight down is attached to it...not sure if that is clear. The last video is the best.

Oh Eddie u r tooo Smart!! Good Job.....so glad u r recovering nicely!! And.....don't worry Sweet Eddie....none of us really "want" to get on the treadmill & need a little coaching!!:rolleyes:

Those are GREAT videos. When was Teddy Bear's surgery and how's he doing now?

I'll have to try taping from that angle next time because it really shows the legs well. And good point about the leash. Makes sense. Thanks!

And YorkichonBella, LOL, I hear ya' about the treadmill!

His surgery was done March, 2008. They ended up only doing the right leg. It was the worst of the two...he was actually unable to put his foot flat on the floor. He was dragging that right one and had no nails on his foot and was scraping the fur off the top of his foot. He came to me with a sore on that foot...and everyone said it was joints that were basically frozen??? Two vets told me nothing could be done and then I heard about this board certified vet who was supposed to be great. I took him there and the vet knew immediately what the problem was and felt he could repair it. He had muscle contractures in both legs.

They released the muscle and redid the knee that was pretty out of whack. He had to go to therapy for a few months after...and while his legs will never be perfect, his right ankle and knee now bend enough that he can put his foot flat on the ground........and he has toenails! :) Teddy does also have hip dysplasia, but he is small and may never have issues with his hips. He plays with the other pups and is a happy boy!

Aww, that's awesome! You're a saint! I'll bet his quality of life improved 10,000 percent.

Looks like Eddie is on his way to recovery! Isn't it funny how they figure out how to BEAT (or avoid) the treadmill???? When Shelby was in PT she would start walking and then when she got to the front, she would sit down and ride it all the way to the back.... and then start walking again.... It is amazing how smart these little dogs are! :)

I totally agree! I love to see the way that Eddie, Rusty and Jilly live! :) They are lucky pups indeed to have such wonderful parents who clearly love them so much!

Oh I don't think he is trying to avoid the treadmill - Eddie is just very goal-oriented and doesn't understand the objective. He thinks he needs to really get somewhere!LOL

I love that dog! It is always fun to see what he is going to be into next!
