Milagra: One Year After Her Rescue Milagra was rescued one year ago from the largest puppy mill in US history. She was close to death then, but is a happy girl now. |
What a wonderful happy ending. She is beautiful! |
Watching her today makes my heart swell with pride for the people who saved her. |
What a beautiful story of a beautiful girl. |
Crying and relieved at the same time....God bless all the rescuers.... |
Thank you for all the kind words. Poor thing has been through soooo much - but she's helping me as much or maybe even more than I'm helping her. The Yorkie in my avatar, Mini, died six weeks before Millie came to live with me. Mini, as some of you remember from my previous posts, had CRF caused by dog food containing tainted wheat germ from China. She lasted another 16 months and several thousand dollars later. I miss her still, but Millie keeps me in the here and now. Millie's 5 times the size of Mini, but still every ounce a Yorkie! :aimeeyork |
what a wonderful story!!! Thanks for sharing!! |
Aww, that one brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful thing you've done. Thanks for sharing. |
How wonderful!! |
My Lilly, too, is not without her own story, and the story of Milagra is only too common, sadly enough. Lilly was sold by a greedy breeder to a family with a small child, too small to be able to treat her with gentle hands. The toddler abuse became so severe that the owner actually returned Lilly to the breeder. A friend of mine, a term I use loosely, bought Lilly to use as a breeding bitch and moved her into a home with two "large" small dogs...a Havanese and a very large Maltese. The community feeding arrangement allowed Lilly to eat a few leftover kernels daily if that. She was placed in a Maccaw's cage as entertainment and left in a dark room alone all day long. I opted to be a foster parent while this person got her puppy store up and running. When I got her home, she was matted, 3.5 lbs. with a toy frame, bite marks on her face and neck, and ribs sticking out. I knew she belonged with me. I offered this person money and one breeding. I then lied about Lilly's not coming into her first heat, all the while knowing the puppy store was not going to last, and by the time Lilly came into her second heat, the puppy store was closed. I had her spayed and she has been my loyal beautiful love since that time. She is now 4 yrs., 7.5 lbs., and has a new baby brother, Jesse, with almost the very same story. The miracle in all of this is that you had the heart to take her in and nurture her to the dog she is today. This is a miracle story about a miracle puppy, one that not only brought tears to my eyes, but the realization that kindness comes in all forms. People like you are not common in today's world and it is only my pleasure to have met you. God bless you and your furbabies....Lisa, Lilly & Jesse |

What a beautiful little girl. How lucky she was to have found you. God bless you for taking her and giving her the loving home she never had and so very much deserved.:) |
Bless you for saving her, its amazing the transformation she made |
What a gift you have given by all your love and hard work in allowing her to have the life she deserves. It is a beautiful thing to see the change in her since she has been with you and your family. I also adopted a rescue and I agree that although I give everything to my little Bella- I feel like the lucky one! She is just the light of my life and has brought me so much joy and love and been such a blessing to me. I experienced a lot of anxiety before she came to live with us and somehow having her in my life - I've never felt better. It is amazing the impact a little furbaby can have to change our lives when we only expected to change theirs! |
She is beautiful. I am so happy you were able to give her a loving home and that she is happy now. |
what a lovely story .. luv the caging of the rug hahaha! :D |

This is indeed a miracle! I have tears in my eyes, and am so grateful for this little girl. |
OMG That was the best short video, you can tell how much she means to you and thank you so much for rescuing her and not giving up. I foster dachshunds (haven't for a couple of months b'c I lost my baby) and I know how much they can change over time and def open up. It is just so rewarding. BTW I love that name, thank you for sharing she sure is gorgeous!!! |
