Philadelphia-area: Schuylkill River Dog Run? Dog parks make me kind of nervous as you never of aggressive dogs and irresponsible dog owners. Don't even get me started on dog diseases and the like. Anyone ever taken their dog(s) to Schuylkill River Dog Run? I'm hoping someone has been and can offer their insight. |
Is this right by boat house row? |
Yeah, probably. It's pretty close. It's on the same river. |
Hmm.... The other day I saw some dogs playing around on the grounds around boathouse row, the area wasn't enclosed which kinda freaked me out especially with all the cars zooming by on Kelly Drive. I was driving so I couldn't see if that really was a designated dog area. Have you been to the Eastern state Penitentiary park? |
Nevermind the last post... I just found the website for the Schuylkill park, it IS fenced. Now the issue is if there is a small dog only side. |
s.jersey has some nice dog parks.. if you want a really nice park ..there is a private dog park in princeton that offers day rates. all dogs must show vac/health records. |
find dog parks here http://animal.discovery.com/features...k/map/map.html princeton park: http://www.rockytopdogpark.com/ |
I've been to Rocky Top, took me about an hour to get there. It was "ok", the part about paying to get in bothered me a bit especially since I can go the park that is less than 5 min away from me for free. Aslo didn't like the mulch, you have no idea what you are stepping or what else is lurking in the mulch. The parking lot was small too. |

They do have a small dog area, its miniscule compared to the space the big ones get to romp around in. There is also a middle area, I think they use that space for puppies. |

How about Eastern State Pen.? |
Quote:
"Pursuant to a court order, the City has directed FESPP to cease the operation of the dog pen and to remove the fencing which defined it. The court order was issued subsequent to a preliminary injunction hearing where petitioners asked the judge to close down the Dog Pen pending the outcome of the litigation. Lawyers for respondents (the City and FESPP) are discussing next steps. FESPP will post updates on the situation as it evolves. We appreciate your patience and your desire to participate in the process. While we remain committed to establishing a dog pen which users can enjoy and non-users can accept, we will need to work together to fulfill our common mission of developing and maintaining OurPark for our entire community. We continue to welcome your input and will keep you informed about ways you can help. One way we ask you to help is by maintaining compliance with the laws when using the space, to facilitate progress going forward (e.g., not allowing dogs off leash, and not leaving feces in bags on the ground since the trash cans have been removed)." http://www.ourpark.org/010_dogpen/dogpen.htm ETA: Obviously a dog park is one of Philly's biggest problems. |
