Puppy Apartment Hi, I was wondering if anyone used a puppy apartment, if you did what did you think of it? Thanks. |
Hi and Welcome! I have never used one, I have used Xpens and crates. :D |
Thanks, I'm getting a little girl in the fall and weighing my options. Thanks for the input something to think about. Did you like the x-pen and crate? Again thanks. |
Congrats, you have lots of time to get ready!! I think for Peanut, he liked the crate the best- he felt safe in there. I read that dog’s like “den” type places to go especially when they are alone. I have a big crate, maybe could fit a 25 pound dog in there. I put his pad on one side, bed on the other with blanket, food, toys and my Pj shirt. I also bought a water bottle for hamsters and hung it on the crate- gave him more room and I didn't have to worry about him spilling the water. Peanut is 6 and he still loves his crate. I think it is also good to crate train your dog, make sure they are comfortable in a crate. |
I have what they call play pen Macaroni loves it Winnie |
Yup that's another good item to have. I bought a child's play pen and Peanut has been in there- big enough for everything he needs!! |
Thanks for all the advice:) good to hear all the creative ideas. I will keep them all in mind. |
I looked at those before. What are they ~$100+ for a small or $70 for extra small? Imo its just a crate with a divider. And for me it's to small to keep a dog in for along period of time. Maybe short periods. So if you need a crate for a short time I bought a large crate and put a divider myself for alot less $$$ 055.jpg Photo by ironmike86 | Photobucket http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f9...86/Dog/074.jpg I can't find updated pics real fast but that gives you an idea. I used heavy material for divider. Incontinent pad for the bot. On top of the tray for the cage. But I decided I didn't like that. So I baby gated a room puppy proofed it and put a pad by the door. He still sleeps in the cage. I feed him and have his bed there so he can always be use to it. Just door is always open.I have small travel on by the bed he will nap in.Door always open. So he is use to cages. But I just don't like to make him stay in the cage. That worked for me everybody has to make up there own puppy space. My point is the puppy apt you can do something better for less or something alot better for the same or a little more $$ IMO |
Thanks, I'll look at the link:) |
