I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You are an angel, you gave him some wonderful last years. I know how much it hurts to lose one.

You won't believe this but after years off and on of trying to get in touch with the lady we got Dexter from. I tried again tonight and got her. She is still in the Yorkie rescue business and has a 1 year old that we may go look at in a couple of weeks. He isn't officially up for adoption but she said she would adopt him out to us. She bred him once and had him neutered. She just has so many that she could let him go to someone "special" like us. The fee is 350.00, a little more than I can afford but I told her that we would give it much thought, pray and see what was to come.

So our future may hold another little male Yorkie, who knows.

Sorry for your lost. I can imagine how you feel. Myself, like you, and so many other people on this site have babies that are stuck to them like glue and follow them around all the time. They do love unconditionally.

I will say a prayer for you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know exactly how you are hurting, as I had to put down my beloved doxie, Elmo on June 26th. He was 15 years old and my constant companion and best friend. The hurt will remain but it will get better with time. Every time I see a little red doxie I still tear up. But our memories of the fun times will get us through. This is the best place to mourn because the people on this site are truely caring and almost everyone here has lost a friend at one time. My prayers are with you!

I'm sorry about your loss, but remember the good times and how happy Dexter was with you. He got to know what love was and I'm sure he was happy and grateful with you for all that. Rest in Peace little Dexter.:rbyorkie:

So very sorry for your loss. How wonderful that he had such a good home with your family. Know that you sometimes have to do the right thing even if it hurts. Take care.

It has been 6 weeks today and it is so very painful to think about. We rescued Dexter in June of 2001. He had a rough life before us but we showed him love, affection and he was part of our family. Six weeks ago on Saturday he got sick - he seemed to be better Sunday but by Monday morning we knew he needed to see the vet. My husband took him (I had a doctor appt for myself). We knew that it wasn't fair for him to suffer and we wanted him not to hurt or be sick, even if it meant him not being here with us.

We spent time with him and told him how much he was loved, took pictures to have for later, hugged him, kissed him and cried. The after about 30 minutes the vet put him to sleep in my arms. It was the hardest thing I have done but it felt right knowing that he was with me at the time.

This has affected me more than I could have ever imagined - Dexter was my little man - he loved me unconditionally. He slept right next to me every time I was in the bed. He followed me from room to room, even if only for a second.

He was so unselfish and loved deeply - even when he felt bad and probably knew it was his last night with us, he came to my side of the bed during the night as he always did to be picked up and slept with me.

I miss him more than words can say -- thanks for letting me get this out.

We do have another little yorkie (Tye is 3) that we rescued in June of 2005 - he is our son's (12) baby. He sleeps with him, follows him, etc just like Dexter did me.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I will be getting my first yorkie Friday, but I do know the pain of loosing a beloved pet.

Thanks for all the kind words. This is an AMAZING place, I am blessed to have found it.

It helps to know that peope understand - that Dexter wasn't "just a dog" - he was part of our family.

Yes, Dexter and Chester are running, playing, and looking dapper as ever. How I wish I could give you a hug and cry with you! Best of luck in meeting your potential new family member. I absolutely LOVE getting the older ones and spoiling them rotten for as long as I am blessed to have them. It's just too bad a lot of these rescue groups put so many demands on potential families. So glad you have a connection. Please let us know how it turns out and if he does come home with you - lots of pictures!
