That is so strange. I guess it could happen but who would think so. My little Dollie eats 2 x's a day. Some days she just eat regular amounts and there are days when she is starved it seems. Those are the days when she has been outside and we have had longer than usual play periods. But all in all, she eats what her normal portion is and when she is full she will walk away. Sometimes there is food left in her dish and sometimes not. When she is still hunger she give me barks and then I go back and give her a little more. Then once again, when she is full, she walks away. She doesn't have days like this often but when she does I give her more. Dollie is going to be 2 yrs. on Sept. 29th...so I don't see any problem in this. If I'm doing something wrong I welcome any comments. I'm so sorry that you lost your precious little Coco-bee. What a beautiful little fur baby she is. Rest In Peace Precious One. Until you are all together again......Rest In Peace Dear Heart.

My heart goes out to you and your boyfriend. I fell in love with Coco-bee as soon as I saw the pictures. Her poor tummy! Like everyone else, I had NO idea they could die from this and it's scary to know that it is the #2 most leading cause of death in dogs. Now I will worry even more about Diamond.

What a sweetie pie! I am so sorry you lost your baby but thank you for sharing your story.
Shadow-thank you for the website info. I had no idea this was deadly...Lucy has eaten so much before that she feels like a stuffed sausage. ( Scary)

Thank you for sharing your story, even though it was prob. hard to do. I will watch more closely to what Reese puts in her mouth........thank you , and I will keep you in my thoughts !

I am so sorry to hear of the death of that beautiful little creature...I do not intend to sound cold-hearted cause I am crying as I type this but I want to point out the learning experience from this. Yes, bloat is deadly and has killed many dogs-especially large ones.
BUT, one of the reasons we feed puppy food to these young Yorkie puppies is because their G-I tract can handle the ingredients and digest them. Adult food has a lot more fiber much of the time, and it just stays in the intestines and forms a hard mass. That acts like a total bowel obstruction which is what causes shock and can eventually cause death. I have never heard of a little one eating that much so wonder if she had another underlying problem that didn't turn her "full tummy sensor" on...
Have you contacted her breeder? Is it at all possible that she was hungry all the time as a young baby and developed the habit of gobbling her food? That happens when a lot of dogs are housed together.
I am sorry that you are going thru this but, please know we are here for you and BF....Go in LOVE and rest in Peace, sweet Coco-Bee...

...Now that i remember thats what the doctor said happened, it caused an obstruction to the point it cut the circulation to her little body. They tried to revive her several times and came back, but she just wasnt strong enough anymore. My little angel....she was so tiny i used to call her the little rat...And yes she liked to gobble her food down, so i would always watch her eat. She also would always run to Monkeys food bowl, and if empty she would just not stop licking it! So i know she had developed a taste for it.

But yes, thank you for the warning. My wee ones liked to eat the cat food, and I solved that problem. Now they like to steal the lab's food, and I didn't think much about it. Now I will.

Oh, no, I'm so sorry. She was such a cute baby girl and you will miss her. She will wait at the bridge like all the babies that we've lost. Take care. :big_hug:

i am so sorry,

her spirit is with you, though.

A psychic told my mom that whenever you look back on the happy memories of a lost one, their ghost is there with you. Coco-bee is looking after you and your yokies now, which is good.

Coco-bee is in my prayers!!!

We are doing a whole lot better. I get mopey from time to time, but then we talk about all the cute things she ever did... and it puts a smile :) on our faces. I am also aware that she did not go in vain... I know her story will bring so much more awarness to this overseen problem. I know from now on we should really be carefull on what our tiny babbies eat. They are tiny and they relly on us to take care of them! Thank you once again for all the support, your the best!:thumbs up

how aweful! I'm shocked as well, I never thought a pup would eat like that, I thought they just eat till there full. I'm so so sorry to hear about your loss, I know your pain all to well it it is not a good feeling. please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this sad time.

Her little body couldnt take all the food she had eaten....she couldnt process it. they used medical mumbo jumbo....by bf remembers cause hes a doctor. I just know my baby is gone.....Her little body couldnt take the stress. Her blood suggar was 220 i think. Which the vet did not expect at all in a little baby like that. Me and my bf are very sad, but i know she is in a better place where she can eat all the food she wants and will never get sick :) I know things happen for a reason. :rbyorkie: :angel2: :rip:
