Difficulty Dealing My 16 year old Yorkie disappeared from the backyard last Friday. We have searched all over, contacted the humane society, posted ads on Craigslist, etc. and have not been able to locate him. I am having a difficult time dealing. The area in which we live is somewhat rural and there is a wooded area behind our house. My doggie went outside to go to the bathroom and did not come back. He never wanders off and generally just goes outside, does his business, and comes right back. Not knowing what happened to him is agonizing. And worrying that he is out there somewhere in a place I have overlooked and he is in need of help is killing me. I don't know what to do at this point, but I don't feel I can have closure until I find him and know what happened. I feel like I have let him down and I am not there to protect him right now as I know with him being older he is not able to easily fend for himself/protect himself. I miss him so much and just pray that if he passed he did so peacefully and he was not in pain or suffering. |
Oh no, I am so very sorry to read this :(! Agonizing is the exact right word, as that's exactly what this would feel like. I so wish you could somehow find him and that all would be well....my heart just breaks for you and I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Don't give up hope just yet, you may still find him. My thoughts are with you during this incredibly sad time. |
This is just breaking me heart :( |
Praying for him to be found safe and sound... |
Lost dog :-( Oh no, what a terrible thing to happen. I can't imagine the pain and anguish you are going through not knowing where he is. I pray that he has been taken in by some kind soul and that you just have not connected yet. As he is older, it is even more stressful as he is not so well able to take care of himself out there. Thoughts and prayers go out to you for a happy outcome to this current misery. |
I am so sorry for what you are going through, I hope you find him and he is safe! I will keep you in my thoughts and pray you find peace. :(. Keep the faith that you will find him. |
I am so very sorry your Yorkie is missing, and I pray that he will be returned safely. I know you are doing everything possible to find him, and it is heartbreaking. There is a section in the Yorkie Talk Library that gives endless suggestions to help find a lost dog, and I'll post the link here in case it might be helpful to you in some way. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/mis...st-yorkie.html Please update whenever you can, and we will all be praying that he is home soon. |
Thank you for the responses so far. It is comforting to know others understand what I am going through. |
I pray that you find him soon. I wish I lived closer, I would come help you search. My heart is breaking for you. |
I am so sorry you are going through this. I pray you find him! |
Oh the poor baby, he must be so scared and I can not imagine what you must be going through no knowing how or where he is. I pray he returns home safely !! |
Heartrending! Prayers! |
Praying he finds his way home or is found and returned to you. With my adopted lil boy this is my biggest fear. I also live in a heavily wooded area,I always needed just a low fence to keep my lil girl with-in her yard. This new guy came from the city, he is 3 y/o country living has bought out his hunting instincts and is curious about every thing, even moths . I am extending my fence to 4 feet this week end weather permitting. It is just rabbit fencing, I love the beauty of the wooded area, do not want to feel like a prisoner in a 6 foot high wooden fence, the fence is almost invisable, I still have the view of the woods, and wild critters, but I'll have the peace of mind when lil boy sees a deer or rabbit he will not be able to get over the 28 inch high fence I have now. I would be devastated if my lil boy got in these woods,he would never find his way home. We have black bears, fox, coyotes and bob cats. Some years ago at the bottom of the mountain I live on I sat a mountain lion, have not seen it in 12 years. I would be beating the woods calling and searching for him. I feel you pain. Praying. |
Praying your little guy comes home safely. I know it must be horrible not knowing where & how he is! |
Any word on your missing baby. My heart is torn. Praying he is found, my last girl at 16 y/o was 75 % blind and deaf, I was wondering how your babies vision is. Her sense of smell was still good, praying he can find his way home. |
Thanks again for the responses. Still no luck finding Mugsy :( His sense of smell is still very good, but he did have arthritis and was taking medication for that. He also had cataracts and had trouble hearing. If it was his time to go I could accept that (though it would still be hard) but the not knowing part is very difficult. |
Came back to see if he made his way home. Don't give up hope miracles do happen. Praying your boy is found soon. |
Please don't loose hope! Miracles happen all the time. I know someone who's family member lost her deaf and almost blind senior yorkie well up in age . A week or so had past when two little ladies found him on the side of the hiway miles from home he survived and was returned he wore a little collar with his info. That family was devastated also but continued hoping for a miracle. Praying the best for you and your little one too. |
I'm so heartbroken to read this and will be praying your baby is soon found safe and makes his way home soon. Don't lose hope! |
Praying for you and your little Mugsy ! |
Praying that someone finds your baby and turns him in so you can get him back. Susan |
I'm so sorry! I'm praying for your little one to come home soon! |
I know you are so devastated. Praying that you find your sweet Mugsy soon. |
Megan, I'm gonna share my story with you in hopes that it my give you so comfort, here goes.......in addition to my baby yorkie I have a 9 year old shih Tzu. One morning my husband opened the back door to let her out to go potty , when he opened the door there was a stray dog on the porch mooshoo (that's her name) took off to the races after the other dog my husband took off right behind them but that quick she was out of sight. We did everything you did to get her back. The bad part about this story is she didn't have identified tags on. We had moved and the tags we had weren't up to date. Seven long weeks went by , on the fourth of July my husband and my mother was outside preparing for a cookout a couple of kids was walking down the street with a dog. The dog barked my husband said " that sounds like mooshoo it was mooshoo she was home. We all cried on and off all day ,another thing we did that day was order her new pet tags and she now has a microchip. I learned my lesson. :) so don't loose hope miracles do happen. |
omg that has to be so awful my prayers go out to you and your precious little one. |
