What a beautiful way to honor and celebrate your dog's life - "His Last Day" I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, just something I came across - An incredibly beautiful way to honor your best companion and his last day on this earth. A bitter sweet farewell. This Family Took Photos Of Their Dog?s Last Day On Earth... - The Meta Picture This is definitely worth a look, and something I think we can all appreciate. True, unconditional love given to us by our best companions. "He may only be a part of your life, but remember, you are his whole life" |
I just couldn't take photos on the day I guessed (and was correct :() was going to be Minnie's last. But I got her some chicken breast for lunch, which she just went absolutely nuts over, along with her chicken water (we put chicken broth in her water to encourage her to drink a lot, as her kidneys were almost gone). We spent the day hugging and kissing. She wasn't really strong enough to play nor run around too much, but I thought we had a great day I will forever treasure, because she was so close to death 6 days before. |
That sounds like a day to remember, And I can only imagine she was happy for all the love she received that day |
This has been floating around, and I've been avoiding reading it cause I knew how upset I'd be. But, I'm glad I finally caved. What a wonderful last day for that sweet baby. I took one last picture of me and my Presley the day before I knew we were losing him. Even though I don't even have any makeup on and I'd been crying for 2 days, its still one of my favorite pictures of us together. |
Thank you for sharing this. Typically for me of course I teared up. Who could not who has lost a dog? I took no pictures on that last day, but the memories are burnt into my brain. Some tender sweet, some so very painfull even now to recall. I do wish though that hubby had gotten a picture of our pack and me laying in the morning sunshine prior to going to the vets. One of my most special memories of that day. |
Beautiful last day for a precious family member and who wouldn't cry at those pictures and the love and reality taking place in those photos. Every one I know who has a dog and loves it more than life hates the thought of that inevitable last terrible day. Oh how I wish every beloved dog's last day could be so lovely, that much fun for the dog and it all end so painlessly and peacefully for him or her. |
If it is an option, I like the idea of saying the final goodbye somewhere other than the vet's office. I hope that I can do that with my boys, when they are very, very old. |
