We sure will, I cannot imagine going through my life without another beautiful yorkie....

One thing I would caution is to wait until you're 100% on it. I know I started browsing petfinder and local rescue sites about 2 weeks after Minnie died because I missed having a yorkie so much. And then one night I had a nightmare where I had this really cute yorkie in my arms but I wanted nothing to do with him because Minnie was the yorkie I wanted to be holding, hugging, getting kisses from, etc, and I was yelling for Minnie to come back. It was by far the saddest dream I have ever had, and only time I can ever recall feeling sadder was on the drive home from the ER right after her death. I thought I might have been ready but that dream made it pretty clear to me that I wasn't.

About 3 weeks later though I knew 100% I was ready, and everyone else was too. So we got our pup and our little Cookie Monster has brought nothing but happiness, and I'm so glad we waited a few extra weeks to grieve. I'll never get over losing my Minnie Bear though.... ever. But it was enough time to let go and to ensure I could love Lil' Cook with every ounce of my heart (and I have since the second I brought her home).

Just wanted to share my thoughts on getting another pup after losing such a beloved member of the family. It's definitely something to sleep on for a few days at least I think, because losing the love of your lives (which Elvis sounds like he is) is supposed to be this hard. Hugs.

I miss the way you barked to go outside.
I miss the way you would jump instead of walk.
I miss the way you slept in my bed with me at night.
I miss the way you would just sit there staring at me and blink all cutelike.
I miss your surprise kiss attacks.
I miss seeing you beg for foood.
I miss how little you were when I would hold you in my arms.
Last but not least.. I miss you Elvis.

Thanks so much it has only been three days, but it seems like an eternity since we held and loved on him....

I know, I felt exactly the same with Minnie. Nothing shook it but time, but it still feels like an eternity even though it was only the end of May for me. I think it's good to get your thoughts out like you and your daughter have though. Sometimes you just have to be sad and not bottle things in and try to put on a smiling face for the world. Makes it much easier to put that smile on and actually mean it later I guess.

I am so sorry to read of your pain, it's a testament to your little guy how in such a short time he had you wrapped so tightly around his little paws, yorkies seem to have a way of doing that. I hope each day it gets easier and that eventually you smile more than cry when you think of him.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your precious baby Elvis. My heart is breaking for you. He sounds like quite the little character. Kensie that is so sweet what you said about Elvis making someone happy in heaven. You know you will see him again some day. Until then I'm sure he would be ok with you loving another Yorkie pup. I am deeply sorry for your tragic loss of Elvis. He was such a beautiful baby. When you love someone so dearly, he/she becomes a part of your heart forever. Love lasts forever, and although the pain never fully goes away, all of the smiles and beautiful memories won't either. After we lost our precious angel Ashley three years ago close to her seventeenth birthday, we waited two years before Katie joined our lives. It was such a lonely two years. Katie has completely stolen our hearts. She has made her own wonderful life with us, but she also brings back such nice memories of our Rainbow Bridge babies. I hope each day gets easier for you and that one day soon you can love again. I believe it's a testament to my love of Ashley, Kiwi, Gracie, and Jolie that I am able to love so freely and strongly. Our babies teach us so much about love and commitment and how to love with a completely open heart.

I am so sorry to you both for your loss. It is so hard when they are young. Such a small time with you but he left large paw prints in you heart. He is waiting by the rainbow bridge until you meet again. Rest in peace little Elvis.

He was an amazing part of our family. Things are too quiet around here, he generated so much excitement in our home....I know that things will get easier with time, but the void that is left in our life's, our hearts, and our home is something that will be hard to get over...I do know that although Elvis was our first Yorkie, I will want another...They are so much fun to love....

Thanks for your kind words, it is encouraging to know that another Yorkie can provide a different kind of excitement in our home...I know no one will ever replace the love we felt for our Elvis, but is nice to know that we can love again in a different way....I know Elvis would want that.....

This is great helpful information...I know I can never replace Elvis, nor would I want too...But to share our lives with another sweet cuddly Yorkie is a must.....It is only an extension....

Oh yeah, fully agree. My Minnie Bear and my Cookie Monster have ensured I will always need a yorkie in my life too!

So very sorry for your loss I had to have my baby girl Roxee to sleep on the exact same day. I feel your pain and grief and have no answers for you as i'm going through the exact samething my baby girl was my heart and soul for 9 and half years truly my very best friend and i'm hurting just as bad as you are,........... just know there's others out here just like you and all I can say is we'll get through it the best way we can but never get over it. mY little girl was there for me when no one in the world was and you cant replace that no matter what but remember they'll always be here with us in our heart and they'll be waiting at that rainbow bridge for us God Bless you and my prayers go out to you

Elvis and Today...
 

Today was bittersweet for me....Today was the day I picked up my sweet baby boy's ashes....It was something I had been anxious about all day...I knew it would be hard, as when we took him to the vet hospital he was alive and when we left him there he was gone...So the memories of the horrifying ordeal came rushing back...I made it to the car before the tears started...and I could not stop...As I returned home my husband and daughter greeted us at the door....We all took a moment to remember Elvis, his life, his love, all what he meant to our family...The positive thing is I can look at the mantel and smile, and know he is here with us always...

I'm so sorry for the loss of Elvis. You and your family are in my prayers.

That's really good that you have his ashes there to look at. I buried Minnie in a place visible from every window on one side of the house so that I can always look out and see her too. Maybe a nice framed pic nearby too.
