Zipp Sad news. Zipp drowned yesterday. I went to see what the A/C maint workers wanted and forgot to close the slider to the porch. The old boy must have woke up, went out to take a pee and stumbled into the pool. By the time I got back to the dogs he was floating. Tried cpr but he was gone. I get his cremains back next Friday. He was still doing OK for a 17 year Yorkie. Never missed a meal or an opportunity for a treat. Always ready for a sneak treat from our plates. Creatine was going down, 2.5 to 1.5 in May according to Dr Burger's office. Still able to hop around, get in and out of the house. But age was slowly catching up to him. I found him via YorkieTalk back in Dec 2009 and flew up to Columbus Ohio and back 27 Feb 2010 to adopt him. For those that did not him here is his story http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yorkie-rescues-new-homes-needed/195316-spike-dropped-off-local-pound-15-years-age.html The sweet, feisty old guy will be dearly missed. I know he is on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, well again with his previous owner, not the ones that dumped him in the shelter at 15 years old, and waiting for me. Bob |
wow.. you are an amazing mommy to give the last year of this sweet pup love. Sorry you lost him. |
I'm so sorry to hear about Zipp  I know how much he was loved and what an integral part of your pack he had become. You read about a pup in need and stepped up to the plate. It was a beautiful thing you did for him! Accidents are a horrible thing :( Elizabeth lost her old Clarence to drowning as well :( Decreased vision was also a factor for him. He had a wonderful last 2 1/2 years with your family. |
Oh no! How sad... I remember reading his story! Poor old guy.... Hugs to you.... you\'re a great Yorkie Daddy... my heart is breaking for you... RIP Zipp. Hugs, |
Oh, how awful that Zipp is gone but am so glad he found you & his life there. I know there is a Rainbow Bridge somewhere with Zipp & all our dear departed dogs running & frolicking the day away with each other - young as pups & having the time of their lives. |
Rip Zipp...I am so glad that this little old guy had a wonderful family to live his last days with. |
I\'m so sorry to hear this;( RIP little man:cry: |
I\'m so sorry for your loss. |
I am so sorry for your loss of Zipp. You gave him a good life in his final years. |
I\'m so sorry for your loss. Zipp was blessed to have you for his dad and for giving him a home filled with love in his older age. I know he will be missed. Rest in peace, Zipp. |
I\'m so sorry. Rest in peace, Zipp. |
I am so sorry RIP Zipp |
I am really sorry to hear about the young at heart but "old" Zipp. I am sooooo glad that you saw in your heart at the time he was "discarded" at the pound to give him a forever and loving home. I am sure he lived out his last days in happiness and satisfaction. I have a pool and this just reminded me that I need to be very careful with my fluffs as they age. I left one of my rescues out for almost two hours while I went to a flea market one day and when I came home, she was just resting on the lanai but it could have been so much worse. Now, I count heads as they go out and in. I can only say how sorry I am for your loss! RIP Zipp! |
I am so sorry to read about the loss of Zipp. Just remember Zipp knew he was loved and had a great home. Take care of. Susan |
What a tragic accident. RIP sweet little man. |
