Traci, do not blame yourself for what has happened to little Winston. This puppy was brought into this world by a breeder that did not have the concern necessary for this baby's well being. No "reputable breeder" lets her babies go before 12 weeks of age. Those couple of weeks from 10 to 12, can make a huge difference in how that baby eventually turns out. Second, a "reputable breeder" would NEVER put a baby weighing less than 2 lbs on a flight, unattended, that stretched out to 8 hours long, with even one stop over. This baby clearly had hypoglycemia issues and these babies can not go an extended period of time without intake. The flight was too hard on the baby, this is something the BREEDER should have been aware of, and not put this baby in such a precarious position. Your heart is broken now, and we all understand that, but you can do this and get it right, with the help of someone that is more concerned about her baby and its' safety and health, than making the sale. You find a breeder that will NOT let a baby go before it is 12 weeks old at least, and you go pick it up! You can fly round trip on Southwest, plus a $75.00 charge for the baby, for usually less than it cost to ship a puppy by itself, and carry that baby in the cabin with you. You dont want to get a baby that weighs less than 4 lbs at 12 weeks of age....that size puppy will be sturdier and is better suited for you. Those tiny babies requier an experienced owner....a "responsible breeder" would NEVER let a tiny baby go to anyone that is not very experienced and knowledgable in the task of raising a tiny little baby....they are sooo fragile and delicate and require an experienced owner. You are NOT to blame for your little puppy's death. You were taken advantage of by a breeder that wanted to make a sale, rather than place one of her puppies in a home that was best suited for that baby. Shame on HER.....I am so sorry for the heartache you are going through right now.....
