Our feisty little princess

We miss you so much xiao bao bei.
Our little baby passed away last Friday...
It was such a careless and stupid accident...
Basically I have her and Ray (my Welsh Corgi) indoors, and two German Shepherds in the back-yard here with me in South Africa. My mother was going to get something out from the garage and didn't close the backdoor properly on her way out... Normally Meemee would never even go near that backdoor, except for that day... So Meemee ran out into the yard where my German Shepherd, Rocky, bit her.
I was still sleeping when all this happened and awoke to Meemee's screaming... Rocky only bit her once when I rushed to them. Meemee ran back into the house and onto my bed after that, but almost immediately collapsed as soon as she got on. I rushed her to the vet and luckily Rocky's teeth did not pierce her body, there was just a small section where the skin had been torn. The X-rays also just showed some slight bruising around the lungs but no broken bones. She was bandaged, given injections, a drip, and was looking like she was going to be fine when I went home to get changed.
As I was leaving home, and just about to get into the car to check on her again, the Vet called me and said that she didn't make it... He tried everything he could to revive her but the bruising to the lungs was more severe than we first thought...
She was almost at her fourth birthday and about to immigrate to Shanghai to meet up with mommy and Beebee (her significant other)...
Can't stop hearing her screaming over and over in my head... Or seeing her at the vet with those big eyes staring at me and telling me it hurts... |
