My little yorkie 'Smalls' suddenly died this weekend. My teacup of 8 1/2 years died this weekend. I swear I never felt this sad even for any human death. She was so innocent and just wanted to be treated like a baby all the time. This past weekend, she started snorting (as she always did when excited) as we were having an open house. We're selling our house so we had to put 'Smalls' in a room with a baby gate so that she wouldn't disturb the guess. So she started snorting, nothing unusual, but it wouldn't go away, she would always get over it after a couple minutes, but this went on and off for a day and a half. Finally took her in to emergency vet. They immediately gave her oxygen. Vet said they would do xrays to see what the issue is, either lungs or tracheal issue. After about 30 mintes in the waiting room, vet told me she stopped breathing and had to do CPR. That it looks like she won't make it. They had a breathing tube in her mouth helping her breath. Vet said she's suffering...so I had to sign papers to put her down. Before they did, I had one last look at her. She was on her side, slowly breathing but her eyes were open. She looked at me and her eyes had tears in them. I could barely hold my composure. Kissed her one last good by and left the room. My wife and I are just torn. We have small kids (two), but the house is still so empty without Smalls. This forum has helped a lot, reading stories and seeing a large Yorkie community. Thanks in advance for your support. |
I am so very sorry. Thanks to you Smalls new a life full of love and happiness, and she'll be waiting for your family at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP sweet girl. |
I am so very sorry. May smalls RIP. Did the vet tell you hwta the cause of death was? |
So sorry for your loss. It sounds like you cherished every day you had with her, and I have no doubt those memories will give your family comfort in the days, months and years ahead. You'll know when the time is right for another pet. Come to grips with your grief and then search out something that can fill the hole in your heart. |
So very sorry for your loss....:( |
I am very sad for your loss. |
I feel your pain, I too know what the loss of a beloved furbaby does to the soul, it leaves a very deep hole in your heart. I pray that you and your family begin to remember the good times you had with Smalls and know that she is no longer suffering. RIP Smalls! |
Hi Thanks for all your thoughts. Means a lot. The Vet never got around to do the xrays, her breathing failed prior to the xrays, but the Vet says it was something with her lungs. I do know that her snorting (when excited) became louder and more frequent as she got older. She would snort like crazy for car rides, etc. But she would always get over it after a few minutes of being calm. This time, she just got worse and worse. Like if she had a sudden panic attack and her heart or lungs couldn't take it. |
I am so sorry for the loss of your furbaby ; I know the pain of losing a furbaby . Take care of. |
I am so sorry for your loss. It leaves a hole in your heart when they pass from this earth. It sounds like she was very much loved by you and your family. We recently lost a little girl in Nov., and you are right, you miss the little soul in the house. My husband and I will keep you and yours in our prayers, and that you get comfort in knowing you provided her a loving home right up until her passing - I'm sure she wouldn't have asked or wanted for any more. |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace, Smalls. |
