My Tinka died 30 minutes ago. I watched her and stayed with her till the end.
 

Tinka, a mini Yorkshire Terrier. 6 months old. I am currently in Philippines.
I adopted a 6 month old yorky, because I felt bad that my family here caged her for 2 months. Immediately when I saw her, I wanted her. I was gonna bring her to Canada with me and take good care of her and love her. I got to know her and spoiled her for 4 days. Unfortunately, this morning 4am. I heard her squeal for help. I left her with me in my air-conditioned room. Did she freeze? I do not know... I knew she was dying, as she looked weak (compared to last night..she was still running around). 4am..i wrapped her in a warm towel watched her and prayed. I talked her "Tinka, please live. We are going to Vancouver together." She lying down looking at me the whole time and I did the same. I did not keep my eyes off her. I talked to her until 5:30am...I said I loved her and please live...then she started to shake and died. I was bawling and am still bawling my eyes out. No one here undestands which is why I am on this forum writing to share my grieve. I am so hurt, lost, depressed, crushed..even though I've only known Tinka for 4 days. I loved her so much and now she is lifeless. My very first pet dog died after 4 days. I did not even get to really show her "life". But I am glad that I gt to show her true love.

I'm so sorry for your loss, there is never enough time with these little loves whether it is 4 days or 14 years it still hurts to have to say goodbye. My heart breaks for you.

She may have had very low blood sugar...you loved her..so sorry.

I am so sorry to hear about sweet Tinka. The little ones are so delicate they can easily get hypoglycemic ( low blood sugar) and go downhill very fast if they are not feed a couple times a day. Buster is my first dog and I had to learn a lot really fast as they require much more attention and care or they can get very sick quickly. Remember you rescued her from the cages and gave her love and comfort. If you plan on having another Yorkie this is a wonderful site to to learn on. I am sorry for your heartbreak. I am so very sorry. Four days or 400 days...doesn't matter. Love doesn't limit itself to time. I had a puppy die too...I only had him 2 weeks, but I loved him with all of my heart. Time will help heal your heart and you will be able to look back on those precious days with joy. Hugs to you.

Yorkies are so little and they get low blood sugar in a heart beat. If you are fortunate enough to ever own another, always act to give it just a little drop or 2 of karo syrup and if it is low blood sugar, they will snap out of it within a few minutes. Then give them some canned dog food that is high in protein to help them maintain their sugar levels. Little ones need several meals a day and can not go over 6 to 8 hours if they are very little or very young. Try reading everything you can get your hands on including the Sick and Injured Forum here and I think you will have at least a good start in recognizing symptoms and knowing what their needs are. You did the right thing to make her comfortable and feel very loved. She was probably happier those 4 days with you than all that time she has to be caged. No animal should be caged that way. You gave her love and freedom. Experience comes from doing and we learn fastest by our mistakes unfortunately. You will be better prepared the next time and still something could go wrong. It happens but mostly we get a lot of wonderful loving years from them. Take care and try not to worry over it. You did the very best you knew to do. She was very lucky to have you.

Oh my; that is soo sad. I really doubt it was the airconditioning. So sorry for your loss of this little puppy. At least she had a few days of happiness.

A lesson to us all that a little one can fall so quickly and we must be prepared to act just as quickly.

One day, when your heart is lighter, you might be ready for another Yorkie puppy. Come join us when you are ready and read everything you can.
