Tibbers I miss you. I don't know it this is the most appropriate place to put this, but I'm going to post this here in remembrance of my baby and hopefully to get some ideas to what could have caused little Tibs death. My little baby Tibbers passed away suddenly this week, he was only about 9 months old. He was perfectly healthy and happy, I have no idea what happened. I just let him out to go potty and 5 mins later he was gone. He was laying in the grass, it looked like he was sleeping. He was fine that morning no signs of anything unusual, even when I let him outside 5 mins before he started playing and pouncing in the grass. I was just in the other room for a minute and I didn't hear anything unusual either, I would have heard noise if he was choking on something or getting attacked by another animal. When I found him I tried recessitating him, after I realized he was really gone and there was nothing I could do I checked his entire body for anything unusual, not a scratch on him. I feel so bad, I don't know what happened, I wish that I could have saved him, and I can't help but feel like I could have prevented it somehow. Has anyone ever had something similar happen? Any ideas on what could have caused it? He was so healthy and happy only a couple of minutes before. I was reading about tracheal collapse, is it a possibility that this could have caused my babies passing? Wouldn't I have heard him in some distress if his tracheal did collapse? Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Jordan |
I am so very sorry for your loss. How very sad. Sending sympathy your way... |
I am so sorry for your loss. I have no idea what could have happened. He could have had a heart attack, stroke, etc and died suddenly. That is the only thing I can think of. I am so sorry that happened to your baby, prayers going your way... |
I'm so sorry about your Tibbers. Sending prayers your way. |
I am so sorry for your tragic loss of Tibbers. I can't imagine what happened. I'm not sure if there are insects or toxic plants he could have gotten into this time of year. |
I am so sorry for the loss of your precious baby. So tragic and sad. I have no idea what could have happened. Rest in peace Tibbers. |
Rest in peace sweet baby. I have no idea what could have happened to your baby. Have you spoken to your vet? What did he say? So sad!! |
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Rest in peace sweet Tibbers. |
I am so sorry.. Have you thought about having a necropsy done? I would certainly want to know why... having said that, my son had an alaskan malamute who was only 9 months old and as active and as healthy as a horse. As he was walking him on his leash to go to the park one day he just fell over and was gone before he even hit the ground. he had a heart attack. Even young dogs can have a heart problem. I certainly would want to know especially if you had a health gaurantee on him from the breeder. If he had a faulty heart, I would think that the breeder would want to know and would hopefully replace the puppy for you. Again I am so sorry. |
I am so sorry for your loss.. have you found out anything??? |

I agree with Sunnie here. I'd ask the vet about doing a necropsy to see if he can find anything wrong on the inside since he was so young. I'd want to know what happened to ease my own mind. Plus if you have a health gaurentee from the breeder and the vet finds something congenital you might be able to get your money back or another pup (not that any pup can replace Tibbers :-( ) |
I'm so sorry for your loss of little Tibbers. So sad. A necropsy is the only way to really tell what happened, as Sunnie & Kalina82 stated. You could try calling the vet (if you took him there) and see if one could be done. There are many things that could have happened, from an acute allergic reaction, a broken neck (with underlying condition), heart attack, aneurysm, snake bite...etc. Again, I'm so very sorry... |
I'm very sorry to hear about Tibbers. I hope you can find some peace about the cause of death. |
