Tragedy of Jackson's Supposed Death Turns Into a Miracle I sit here crying as I write this and apologize in advance for such a sad story. I have a friend across the country who is in her 20's and is dying from cancer. She was very recently told that she only has 6-8 weeks to live. Jackson, her 1 year old Shih Tzu allows her to wake up smiling each and every day. He lays in bed with her, as she is unable to get up to play with him & am sure Cooper would too. I promised my friend I would "rescue" Jackson if she ever needed a new home for him. The last thing she needs to think about is finding a place for her furbaby to live. I am more than happy to love him. Today a friend of hers took Jackson to her home to play with her puppy. Jackson dug through the backyard fence, escaped, got hit by a car and died. My friend is incapable of getting over this. With such little life left, why did this have to happen? I do not know how to help her and I do not know what to say. She never lets Jackson out of her site and the one time that she allowed him to go play - this is what happens. She completely blames herself and I am completely powerless in helping her. What can I do for her? Thanks for letting me post. |
That is the saddest thing I have read in a long time. My heart goes out to her and I feel so very sorry for her. I don't believe there is anything in the world that would help her at this point. I do believe things happen for a reason. Perhaps God took him to heaven early to wait for your friend, so he wouldn't be left grieving for her.:( |
Very sad, but maybe it was for a reason. You know your friend has little time and as you said they were inseparatable. Although, hard maybe she can look at it as if God brought her fur buddy first, so he could be there to welcome her to heaven when it's her time to arrive. I lost my mom four weeks on Wednsday and my uncle (Who my parents were very close with) a week prior to my mom. It was a double heartache, but many have said that Uncle Dave went first to so he'd be there to welcome mom when she arrived. I'm really sorry for your friend, for you and for everyone involved. Thank you. I never really thought of God taking Jackson to heaven first to wait for her. That's a beautiful thought. Maybe that could shed some light for her. |

My heart breaks at the thought of your friends pain but, comforted at least to know they won't be alone someday. |
That is so sad and unfair. I hope she takes some comfort in knowing Jackson will be waiting for her. |
I am so sorry for your friend. I think, as the others have said, that Jackson went first for a reason and will be waiting for her on the other side. I pray your friend finds peace. |
Thank you everyone. What's troubling is that she has accepted her own death, but was nowhere near ready for Jackson to go. Every time she speaks to us she asks us if we will take care of Jackson. She was always so loving to him. Right now her boyfriend is just driving her around in his car. She just doesn't want to be at home with all of Jackson's things laying around. My heart just aches for her. There isn't going to be comfort right now knowing that Jackson is waiting for her. It's just too difficult for me to even tell her that. |

OMG i am so sorry :( this is just heartbreaking Maybe you can tell her he is going to be her little angel looking over her during this difficult time with her health. Also he is preparing a special spot for her in heaven. I do believe in things happen for a reason and maybe he did not want to be without her when she passes so he went first to prepare for her. |

:) Yes, That is a wonderful way to look at it. The Pastor at my church even says our pets will be in heaven with us when we die. |
It's a very good way to look at it. She is beyond any type of spiritual messages of this sort though as she cannot even control her crying. I don't think anything but time will help her right now. It's just all so sudden for her. I have not lost a pet since I was a child, but could not even fathom losing my Cooper, especially in the state of health that she is currently in. I appreciate everyone's responses. Perhaps I can share this thread with her at some point. |

i am so sorry your friend is going thru this. There is a beautiful poem called the Rainbow Bridge about our pets that have gone on and are waiting at the gate for us. i think it would be a huge comfort for your friend. sorry, i don\'t have a link but perhaps someone else does or you could google "Rainbow Bridge". |
Im so sorry :cry8: That is just too much for anyone to bear. |
