Layla84 | 04-21-2009 01:23 PM | RIP My Pretty Princess Layla I just saw this area for grief today! I just had to put down my Layla on Friday at 1:30. I had been posting on the emergency page. This has been a horrible week. On last Thursday we took Layla in to the Vet because she was acting weird. She was 8 years old and she seemed fine before this. We thought maybe low-blood sugar. They thought on Thursday(4-9) she had LP. So we took her home and all weekend the meds they gave seemed to give no relief. I even called the Vet on Friday to ask what to do and they thought I should wait until Monday to see if the meds had started to work for her knee. I just assumed she was acting weird because she was in pain. By Monday she was worse and we took her in. They made us leave her over night to put her on steriods because they suspected a neuorological disease, possibly GME. Picked her up on Tuesday and she was almost totally normal. I couldn't come up with all the money for the surgery when they said it was a liver shunt. We took her home with her medication and new low-protein food. I was so hopeful that she would atleast make it to Christmas. Wednesday and Thursday were not much better and I was kidding myself in thinking she wasn't any worse. On Thursday night she had a seizure for about 3 seconds. Friday morning I called work to tell them I would not be in. We took her back to the Vet and they gave her an enema to flush out more toxins. We took home the enema. By the time I got home she was having another seizure. 20 minutes later another one that never really stopped. We knew it was time and we had already discussed it with the Vet that morning. I was so worried for all of us but I went through with it because it was only harder to keep her like that then to just remeber her like she always was. Happy and loving, and full of life is how I will remember my Layla. I am still in shocking seeing how it was only 1 week notice.....:( |
