Bo is Resting Now 4 Attachment(s) Bo, born October 26th, 2003. He was the third pup of five born to Reggie. It was November 11th when the grandkids arrived early in the morning before school. The room was dark. As usual, Reggie ran to greet them. Not knowing exactly what happened, we believe that when Reggie went to greet them, Bo was sucking and fell out of the cage and met up with a heavy book bag. He immediately started screaming. As soon as the vet was in his office I took Bo to see him. Nothing seemed broken, he was too small to take xrays, too little for medication and the prospect of him surviving was slim. I took him home and pampered him, feed him, protected him. That evening I discovered that he had a severe head injury as one side of his head was swollen. It was more than a month later when my granddaughter asked yet again, is Bo going to make it? That was four years and two months ago. Bo was always a baby, he couldn't walk in a straight line. Instead, he would spin his way to you. Sometimes he would spin so fast that he would have seizures. He had been to the vet many times that first year for the seizures and not knowing if that one might be the last. He couldn't go up or down steps. I protected him as much as I could but finally when he was two years old, I realized I needed to cut the apron strings and let him be with the rest of the yorkies. He learned something new with each litter we had. In the last year he finally was able to walk across the floor in a fairly straight line without spinning. In March he had a stoke and was prepared to have him put to sleep then but when we got into see the vet the next day, he was doing much better so we brought him back home. He continued to improve until recently. Last night he suffered another stroke and lost all movement in his hind quarters. He was flinging his upper body all over the place and banging his head on the floor. I held him most of the evening and put him is a box with his pillow for overnight after giving him medication. This morning he was not improved at all and I knew it was best to let him go over Rainbow Bridge to be with his mama Reggie. I am very sad but also happy knowing he is in a better place. |

i read your thread and had tears in my eyes im so sorry for your loss god bless you:big_hug: |
Thank you all so much. Dr. Brian said most breeders would not have allowed him to live. Every day since November 11th 2003 has been a bonus day, not only for Bo but also for us. It was a joy to see him learn something new. He was over a year old before he would take a treat. He would play like a young pup just learning to walk. Just this year he discovered females although we didn't let him breed even though we knew his problems were not inherited. We were afraid that the excitement might be too much for him. We have an in-ground pool and one day he spun himself into the deep end of the pool. He even swam in circles. It wasn't long after that when I put up a small fence around the pool to keep him safe. He was definitely a special needs guy and we gave him lots of loving. |
Linda, I am so sorry for your loss. I have looked at him many times on your website. |
Linda, I am sorry for your loss...rest in peace little Bo. |
I am so sorry to hear about Bo. Souns like he beat the odds many times. Now he is running free at the Rainbow Bridge |
What a precious pup and they always let us know when it is time to help them cross the bridge. Is the picture in the basket of Bo while he was still alive? The reason I ask is that I took a picture of Sophie after she had passed; she was so beautiful, peaceful as she lay in her lavender and cream plaid blanket. The vet said she looked looked so regal and angelic ...to this day, I am so glad that I have her final picture. Warmly and bless you, Deborah |
