My "Little Man" died this week... My little yorkie of nearly 12 years died this week. I have been on a crying spree ever since. He was my best friend. I have a female that I introduced to him about a month ago and now I think shes pregnant but can't be sure. If she is, they got together on Nov 11th. Can anyone tell me what to look for? Thanks |

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved friend. I have a senior in his 13th year, and I can't imagine life without him. I know nothing about breeding; but, we have some super breeders here that will hopefully be along, soon, to help out with that. ada |

Thank you all so very much!!! I can't believe how many people have replied to my thread about my Little Man passing. Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. He will be gone a week tomorrow but I still catch myself looking for him all over the house. The kids are grown and gone now so was just me and him all alone and the house is so empty now. But like I said, I may have a pregnant female. Still not sure what to look for but her once smooth belly now appears a little lumpy and her nipples are definitely swollen. Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part??.... |
First let me say how sorry I am about your loss. I cannot imagine losing any of my babies and know you must still miss him very much. Bless his heart! As for your girl. If he did get her on the 11th of November she would be due sometime around the 12th of January. When they are pregnant they usually will act very loving and sleep alot about this time. She may have a little morning sickness as adults do. She can usually safely deliver puppies anytime from 59-69 days so you need to be with her at all times when she is getting close as there are many things that can go wrong especially with small breeds. Contact your vet and make sure that someone is on call when she is due to deliver and get a phone number where you can contact someone in case of an emergency in the night or on a weekend. At between 48-55 days I would get an xray to see approximately how many puppies are there and if her pelvis appears wide enough to deliver them naturally and how they are lying in utero. Get on the internet and start reading. Search on here as there is lots of great advice and information on whelping right here on YT. Best of luck with her. Hope she has a little man just like his daddy to fill your heart with love again. |
