Michelle, who is the breeder? I bought 2 dogs, traded a third and used the stud of a lady who lives on the north side of Springfield. She runs the North Acres Kennels. From the sound of the size it might be the same breeder. Sylvia

I wrote the parents names & weights down on the outside of my dogs envelopes that came with the registrations so I would always have them handy when I breed and send off for litter papers. Mostly right now I know the weights off hand. I tend to forget the names but they are on the pedigrees anyways. When we get moved I'm going to put up something like faimily trees on the walls for my breeding females. I have 3 males but only 2 that I will be breeding a lot and I want to try to keep track of the sizes they throw. So far I have notes all over the place. LOL I will have to drop them into my filing cabinet when we get moved until I have them all together in one place. Sylvia

Sounds like organization to me... ugh! lol But yes, I like your idea of having the family trees. I keep most of that information on my computer, but having it up on the wall where I could see it at a glance would be great!

I just thought of something .... when I have my litters of puppies, when do I send of for their papers? And, where do I get the paperwork to do that?

If your dogs are both AKC you can go to the AKC site and they have a forms download page. You can print out the litter papers and if you own both parents and have their papers you can fill the paperwork out online. Everyone has a different opinion of when you should send in for the papers. I usually put off until the puppies are 3-4 weeks old to make sure they will all live. So far I've been losing at least one tiny one per litter. I had one make it to 2 weeks before she gave up. I have my litter papers filled out for my 2 present litters but I need to wait till the 3rd of next month to send them in. The AKC includes it's address on the paperwork and an instruction page so there is nothing left to chance.

Filling out the paperwork is a bit confusing but if you know a breeder they will usually help you out. You might want to keep copies of everything you send in so you can follow it to fill out your next papers. Plus, if they lose your paperwork you have copies with the date on it. Another thing you might want to do, if you don't own the father of the puppies you should try to get a copy of his pedigree so you will have one more generation to show people. When you get your pedigree it is usually only 3 generations but with the father's paperwork you have one more generation on his pedigree. Same with buying a new puppy, try to get copies of the parents pedigrees, if the owners will share. I haven't run across any that will, a couple said they would but one dog is 2yo and the other is over a year and I still haven't gotten their pedigrees. Sylvia

I live on the south side of Hwy 70 at the Foristell line. Do you ever go the dog park at Quail Ridge? We could let them run around together in the small dog section. My Jaxon is a 5lb 2 1/2 year old yorkie-poo. He loves to play with other small dogs, we just don't have that many friends with little dogs. He is fine with larger dogs if they don't jump on him. If they do, he becomes Cujo! Ha HA!!!! let me know if you would like to go the dog park.....Kay

Everywhere I look the prices are outrageous. I live near St. Louis and Cape Girardeau. Anyone know where I can get one reasonably priced. I paid 350.00 for my male and papers are not important to me, just that they are yorkies. I love them :D Can anyone help? I went on puppyfind.com and got screwed over by a lady in Springfield. I would like someone close enough for me to drive and see the puppies closer than that. Help!!!:animal-pa

I actually raise both CH Yorkies and Maltese. I live straight west of you. I am 7 miles from Arkansas state line. I don't have any Yorkie pups right now, but am expecting Maltese in November.
