Welcome to YT! I hope you get some more responses on this thread, but you might want to post in the regional forums as well, as this thread was started over a year ago. I have met several of the people who were talking about meeting in this thread, and they are wonderful, fun people! I'm in Des Moines-so about 3 hours from you, and could possibly make it to a meetup in the spring/summer. |

Hello, I am the one that started this thread and I actually live in Raytown, MO. I've heard of Lamar but not sure where it is. I hope to be able to get a group together sometime. If I do know of any gatherings I'll be sure to get the info to you. |
i am straight south of KC on 71 HWY. Lamar is the birth place of Harry S. Truman. |
Thx, that gives me the general area. I didn't know H S Truman was from Lamar, I thought he was from Grandview, MO, interesting. |

October 24 10-2pm Platte County Community Center South in Parkville, MO in the parking lot south of the building. Howl'oween Hayday, trick FOR treats, parade and costume contest. and more!! BE THERE!!! this is a mini meet up, there will be several of us there i think!! |
Rachel, I am planning to come to the Platte Co event next weekend. Is what you have above WHERE we are supposed to meet if we want to find YOU (and others) or is that the location for the event itself? Also, is there a specific time for the mini meet up? Looking forward to meeting you and Sadie. |
Southern Community Center YMCA in Parkville, MO is the event. I'll be the one with my hair on fire in a platte county parts polo and some sort of clipboard trying to sort crap out last minute and a dh with a darling little lobster with him |
Is there a specific TIME for the meet up and is that at the YMCA location? I'm sorry, I guess I am still a bit confused and I don't want to miss it. |
the event is scheduled from 10am-2pm at the YMCA in parkville, mo. it's not a scheduled KC meet up, it's just a Howl'oween hay day event for dogs. the registration information is all on the flier i've posted about it, but you can go to active.com and type in Parkville, MO and the event Howl'oween Hay Day should come up for you. i'll be there early for set up, but the event starts at 10am |

I see that this is not a KC meet up but you mention above about a mini meet up with several people being there so I wondered if you had planned something specific (time, place, etc) for the mini meet up part or do we just take our chances that we would all happen to be there at the same time? I am not trying to be a pain in your backside, I just don't want to miss it if there is something organized as I am very much looking forward to meeting some people from the KC area. |
well the event is running from 10am-2pm with the parade at noon. i don't have confirmation on any other KC MO area peoples coming besides myself and you so far, but i'm hoping to have a few more people from YT that can come. what i meant by mini meet up was simply that if several people in the area came to the event, we could/would see each other and meet each other, there is no organized meet up, it's just simply the event itself and i was hoping to attract more YTers to this event by calling it a mini meet up. so anyways, if you come at 10am, you'll at least see ME, as far as others, i have no idea if anyone else saw this and was planning on coming and meeting us. there is no time scheduled for YT to meet each other. just be there at 10am for the parade and costume contest which start at noon and i'm sure those of us who have cute dressed up yorkies will find the others who also have yorkies!! |
Now I've got it!...Thank You. I am definitely coming but I can't be there at 10:00, I have my regular Sat morning errands to get through first but will head up there after that and as early as I can. I'm not planning on entering any contests or anything, just want to walk around and see what all there is there and to meet you, Sadie and any other yorkie lovers I see while there. When I arrive I will look you up! |
Question Rachel, is there a fee to get into the event tomorrow? |

Is that $10 each? My hubby will be bringing me and I don't know if I can afford $20 right now. |

i hope you can still make it, but understand totally if you can't, i have to back out of eating out a lot of times because we're saving for a house |
I only have 1 dog so that's not an issue and I know this is a fundraiser and I don't mind helping out. I did Dogtober Fest put on by Jackson Co Parks and Rec last weekend and the "ticket in" was some type of dog food donation but it was per car/vehicle rather than by person.....anyway, my hubby has been laid off for the last 17 mos and things are tight right now but I will see if we can manage the $10 plus some dog food so we can come. If it looks like we can't I'll try to let you know by tonight so you won't be thinking I am going to be there. Hopefully it will work out. |
and you can also bring a towel or blanket, used are fine instead of dog food if you need to, i know for me that dog food is kinda expensive so we're going to be bringing some older used towels the shelters really requested those for winter, used towels and blankets. i really hope you can come! i'm excited about this event. all the vendors will have free treats and there will be lots to do. |
I hope I can come too and I am planning on it, just need to make sure we have the money. And, I will check and see, I'll bet I have some old towels I can bring instead of dog food. |
Hi !! Hi Everyone, I thought I would try to see if there are others in my area and low and behold - there are!! I am sorry I missed meeting you at the recent event but I would love to be included in any future mini meets or planned events. We live just north of KC, will soon start puppy classes, and would love to meet some friends! Please keep me in mind... ((Waves at all the 'locals')) ~Denise |
