New Yorkie Owner in Chicago Need Recommendations Hi, Sage, is my beautiful new yorkie puppy. This will be a long post because I have a lot of questions. First, can you recommend dry dog foods that your yorkie likes? I am currently giving her small bites by Science Diet but she isn't eating her daily recommended portion. The vet (VCA Lakeshore; Stacey Daley) today recommended I mix it with baby food. Sage is a finicky eater. Second, can you recommend a place for puppy training? Sage will be 4 months old on the 12th of March. Can you recommend a groomer? Thank you in advance for all of your help. Best regards, Ceta (Sage's mommy) |
hi there. I live in chicago and got my first little yorkie about a month ago. I am by far not an expert but can provide some things I've learned! I also have my pup Coby on small bites science diet but am in the process of getting some samples of dry foods that are supposed to be much healthier and better for him; I am going to try Chicken Soup, Canidae, and Innova and see which he prefers. About training I can't help you out yet - I have not gotten that far! but I do want to take Coby to training sometime over the next few months so keep me posted of what you learn! I took him for hist first hair and nail trim the other day: went to Julie at the Barkling Lot on Irving Park road. she was really good. good luck! |

I can recommend a place called Doggone Fun for both training and pet grooming. It's on State and 17th street (across the stree from the police precinct) and they really love the dogs there. They have small training classes and tend to put the smaller dogs together in classes, so your baby would be safe from pouncing Rottweiler pups. They also do a pretty good job grooming (in fact, they have a day spa for the pups!). There's also a small place on the North side, (Belmont and Broadway) called Happy Tails that does a nice job and is gentle with the pups. Good luck! |
Hi, as far as a groomer I recomend Animal Ark. www.animalark.us (it is also a vet clinic) I feed Chiara Royal Canin - Mini Yorkshire 28 and she loves it. it's for yorkies 10+ months and would be happy to send you a sample when your puppy is old enough. |
