Looking for a Yorkie I posted this in the general discussion section of the site, but was wondering if I would have better luck here: "Hi everyone. I am new to this community, but do not yet have a Yorkie. I am currently the very proud mother of a 1 and 1/2 year old Maltese named Lola who desperately wants a new brother to love and play with and we have our hearts set on a Yorkie. The problem is that we have no idea on how to go about finding our right match! We live in south suburban Chicago and I have searched online for Illinois breeders, but so many of them just seem so shady. So, I figured, who better to ask than those who have been through it? We are looking for a puppy, but are open to the idea of an older dog. We would prefer a male as a companion for Lola, but not for breeding; Lola is spayed. She just seems to get along better with males and I can't put myself through another major spaying operation right now! The most important thing is that he is the right fit for Lola. This is why we are hoping to find a reputable breeder who will let us visit their home, meet the puppy's parents, and allow us to make an informed decision. We have searched all of the local shelters, but none of them seem to have what we are looking for right now. I have allergies so we would prefer a purebred. I would really appreciate and love to hear any suggestions you may have. After all, you are the experts on this subject! Thanks in advance from both Lola and myself! " Would anyone from the midwest or especially Illinois care to share where they got they Yorkies or recommend places to look into? Thanks. |

Have you considered Michigan? We got our first yorkie (Chase) last summer. I did tons of research, and found a GREAT breeder. She answered all my questions (I had alot!), and made me feel completly at ease with her. She really loves her babies! A couple months ago I felt it was time to add another yorkie (they are addictive ;)). I looked around, and every time I found one that I might be interested in, I would show my boyfriend, and he would say no. Well, I talked to our breeder in early/mid March, and she just had puppies. I talked to my boyfriend again, and he said yes. He just wanted to make sure we got our next one from a good breeder, like Chase. We LOVE Brenda Green, and will be bringing home Calvin from her next week :D The puppies are socialized, healthy, and truely loved. Chase was soooo easy to potty train too! I have gotten pictures and videos every week, so it's almost like I'm right there with him. She really does go that extra distance with us new parents. Her name on here is Breny, and her website is Greens Treasured Yorkshire Terriers and Biewers - Puppies for Sale She has one little boy left ;) |
I agree and her pups are so cute I just got my little one from her last week :D |

I also did a lot of research, and used Brenda Green! I wouldn't go anywhere else! :) We are very happy with out purchase! |
Go to the web site Glam Puppies Micros and Teacups glampuppies@yahoo.com - Home . Look for puppies for sale by Terri. I know that she has a male yorkie registered, that she is asking $250 for. she is very respectable and loves her dogs. She litter box trains them before they go home to owners. She is in In. she will meet or deliver. |

Too many breeds, advertising t-cups & micros, breeders advertisin together (at least one is USDA) :thumbdown:thumbdown I would suggest contacting YTCA for a breeder in your area. Breny in Michigan has beautiful puppies too! |

Glad it's worked out for you so far. One needs to be careful when and how they recommend a breeder. |

Recommendations should be made on a breeders long term reputation. Not on one person's short interaction. In other words.....look at the pups health one, two, three years down the road. Contact others that have obtained their dogs from a beeder. |
Breny is the one... I was happy to see, and not surprised to see, so many recommendations for Brenda Green (Breny) in response to your initial post. We were so fortunate to bring home our precious little girl Giselle in March of 2009. She just turned 2 years old on December 6th. Words cannot describe how much I love my little Yorkie angel, nor how wonderful a Yorkie she is! She is playful, and loving, and beautifully behaved, all in all pretty much the perfect puppy! I love her to pieces, and except for when I have to be at work, she is pretty much with me always. I put her in her little airline carrier, sling her over my shoulder, and we go most everywhere together...I've only been busted in one store! Go to Brenda's website to see the dedicated rooms she has to raise her Yorkies, and you will get an idea of her total dedication to her profession...and I use that word, because that is exactly the way she approaches breeding and raising her Yorkies, as a singular profession. I would NEVER acquire a Yorkie puppy from anyone else. A close friend has had similar experiences with 3 Yorkies obtained from Brenda. Her pups are just totally high quality within the breed, and that was very important to me. If you truly care about having the highest quality Yorkshire terrier, I can virtually guarantee that you will be very happy that you chose Brenda as the provider of your new little Yorkie guy! |
