MI Yorkielover | 03-10-2010 06:50 AM | Local Dognappers I thought of posting this on the regional forum but thought it was a good reminder to all. On the news yesterday there was an alert issued for dog owners in western Michigan, specifically Grand Rapids and the Lake Michigan lakeshore. A group supporting shelters, called Pound Buddies, are trying to get the word out after police received several reports of stolen dogs in this part of the state. There have been a rash of dognapping especially small expensive dogs. Dog owners were warned that a woman and man in a white van are going around this part of the state taking small dogs for the purpose of breeding and selling the pups. One little 8 year old girl was in her front yard with her new little French Bulldog puppy when a man came out of the van and actually ripped the little dog right out of her arms. :( These little dogs are also being stolen out of fenced yards while the owners are at home. Just a reminder to always keep your puppies within reach and keep children with dogs supervised. This man could just as easily taken the child, too. |
