I have a question for the members in colder states for winter Jeter comes home in December and I live in an older home. They can be drafty at times and I keep the heat at 72. He will be 12 weeks when he comes. Should I keep him in a sweater or hoody in the house so he doesn't get cold? My mom keeps her house hotter and her dogs are fine so she just puts on the coats when her girls go out to potty. Thanks for any impute, this is almost as scarry as bringing my first born son home! |
Yep I put mine in Hoodies. I got some nice ones from Gofetch. We keep the temp at 70 and our house is older too. |
As we speak my Archie is in his little football jersey because the thermostat on my furnace is on the fritz and we're waiting for the repair guy. I started Archie off with shirts and sweaters early on -- it's a great way not to worry if he is warm enough on these early fall days. Good luck -- bundle up your baby and enjoy him! |
Congrat.'s on the new addition!....I also worried if it was too cold ...I tried the sweater on him but when I removed it from him after only a couple of hours wear and he looked like steel wool  .. I can only put one one him for going out to pee and then I remove it when he comes back in... |
I just would get some nice and cozy PJ's ;) |
I keep my house around 70 too and if I feel they might be a bit chilly, I will put on a sweater, hoodie, heavy weight tee shirt, or pjs. But usually they are all wrapped up in a fleece blankie anyhow so they could care less :p |
This is Izzy's first winter and we have her used to her pjs and sweaters. I keep the house warm at 72 and have a heater in the kitchen to keep that warm because it's an add on to the main kitchen and not under the basement to keep it warm. I got her a coat and little booties so we'll see how that goes..lol. I used to have two yorkies ages ago and they loved the snow so I hope she does too.;) cause she certainly is not a rain goddess. |
you've got the right idea! We keep our house between 70-76*F not only for bella but for us too! we keep those draft catchers at the bottom of the doors b/c in the winter it gets allot colder! Bella is okay most of the time but if we go anywhere or she is acting cold I will put her sweaters on her! |
My boys are fine with no clothing inside or outside. They won't wear it, so I don't force the issue. I keep my house b/t 68 - 70 ... i figure if Im warm in a sweatshirt, they are warm in their own natural fur(hair) coats. :) I don't let them stay outside for more than like 5 mins though, when its super cold, they pee and come in, its like 30 seconds, but on a sunny winter day they will stay out (on their own) for like 10 mins and be fine. This is my third winter with my boys and they are happy, healthy little guys! :) |
I have a couple of light T-shirts I put on Abbie when she first gets up in the chill of early morning. Then, as the day wears on, I take it off. |
my boys are all in there pjs :D |
I don't keep hoodies on mine while they are inside, but when they go outside I put it on. We keep our house at 68 during the winter. So if they get cold they usually go in there bed, or get in my bed. |
We set our heat at 68 in the winter during the day, and down to 65 at night since we do sleep under the electric blanket on cold nights. During the day if it's chilly in the house, I put sweatshirts on the girls and they are happy with that. They don't like heat at all, and if it gets even a little warm in the house, they pant. |
I'd try it at 72 and see how they do. If they seem cold then put on a little hoodie. |
Thanks for the information! I just worry because he is coming home in cold December! I would hate for him to be uncomfortable. I get chilled when it is 70 and under! My kids always tell me my cold and their cold are 2 different things, lol! |
