New and question about size..
 
hi everyone! i just got my little yorkie boy Dexter 2 weeks ago. he is 13weeks now and 2 pounds. i love him to death already, and even though my fiance rolled his eyes at me at the beginning, Dexter's charm and love has now won him over too! he will come home from work and go straight for the pup and ask how his day is going and give him kisses :)

i got Dexter from someone who had bough him from a breeder, but realized they couldnt take care of him as well as he deserved. Unfortunately i did not get to speak to the breeder beforehand and since i am new to yorkies, im not too sure what size to antisipate him being. is there any way for me to judge how much he will grow?

i look forward to learning more as i look over this forum :)

Multiply at 8 weeks X's 3 and 12 weeks x's 2 as an estimate, but remember it is just an estimate. They can always prove any weight estimate wrong.

thanks tiggerr! so its likely that he will stay quite small. :aimeeyork i like the look of him small, but i hope it doesnt have any bad health effect on him. i really wish i got to meet the breeder first. but he is such a good little guy and is fully pee pad trained and affectionate.

He should be around 4 lbs full grown..just an estimate though...my yorkie was small when I got her, she should have been 4 lbs(that's what the breeder told me), she ended up being 14 lbs..but, I'm happy to say, she has lost a pound..:) I'm starting to wonder if it could have had something to do with the tumor she had..?

14 pounds from 4!? wow what a difference! i will love him to death no matter what size he is i just want to be prepared if he is small. ive read many peoples posts on here saying to get a bell for the tiny ones which may be a good idea. my finace is 6'2 so could do some damage stepping on the litle one if he gets under foot!

im really excited to join this forum. already ive learned a lot just by reading over past posts :)

Yes, and when I called the breeder, about how big she was already at a few mos. her response was, well, you can bring her back and I will switch her out...I said NO Way..!
I had already fallen in love with her...She's almost 5 now and still my baby..:) The new puppy I just got was 12 weeks this Tuesday, took her in for her shots today, she was at 2 lbs 6 oz. The lady working the front desk said I've seen a lot of yorkies, but this one has to have the prettiest face of any I have ever seen...I told her wait until she meets my little girls brother tomorrow(he's a lot smaller and just as cute)...my son and his fiance have the little boy..Actually a lady in this forum wanted the girl, but never paid for her, so I got her, and I'm sure glad I did..!

:) The bells work great. I have one on Scooter, just so that I know where he is and don't step on him!! Welcome to YT!

Lol... THAT NEVER HAPPENS! I got lucky too. Sarge hasn't been very difficult at all...
