Tucker can't control himself... So, tell me if this is strange... Lately, when Tucker gets really excited (like if we come home after being gone for an extended period of time, or if my mom comes to vist, etc) he pees himself. It's like he doesn't even know he's doing it! He's still running around and jumping up and down - meanwhile he's dripping pee all over the place! He doesn't squat or lift his leg of anything. He is just acting crazy while peeing all over the place. He makes such a mess because he winds up splashing in it anf tracking it all over the house. He's done it about 5 times over the past few weeks. Any ideas? |
Trace does this too, but I've discovered it's only have he's not been outside to potty recently, like immediately after a nap or like you when we've left him alone. Now we pick him up and take him outside first, then we say hello ;) |
It is excitment of seeing peoples . Jade has just stopped that a few days ago. I know that what I'll say is easier said than done but for Jade , the vet told me to ignore her for a few minutes when she was excited , the visitors have to do the same and give her a treat when she calm down . |
Tuckie--I dwibble a wittle bit too when my mommie comes home!!! I tink we are dust sooo excited to see our mommies dat we forget to hold til we get outside!!! So mommie takes me out right when she walks in da door!!!! I haff been doing much better wiff dat!!! |

I'll have to tell my mommy to take me out wight away when she comes home! You're right - I miss my mommy all day long & I can't hewp but get weally excited when she gets home! Fanks for de advice! Wuv, Tuckie |
Lily does this too. I tell my girls to be calm around her when we arrive home till I get her off the carpet. hehe |
This probably won't help, it's more of a been there done that made it through story, lol. Our dog Cracker use to have this problem. Before he came to live with us he lived outside at my papaw's house and didn't get much attention so when he came to live with us the was so much newness and excitment for him. Just someone coming in the door and greeting him would make him pee, lol. (not funny at the time, lol) anyways we just tried to watch it and not let him get so worked up and make sure no one made any sudden movements at him (he was a little on the nervous/scared side) and he grew out of it. Actually the only time he has done it was when we picked him up after staying at the vet's over night to be neutered and he was very happy. But if it would have been me I probably would done the same thing, lol just kidding. |
Maximus does this..just a drop..when his daddy comes home I have noticed a little drop on the wood floor and also when I took him for a walk the other day I noticed that when I brought him to my mothers house he did the same thing..I asked the vet about it and he said it was because he was TOO excited and suggested that we don't go directly to him when we come home..THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE...but he also said as they get out of their puppy stage it should get better..we'll see :) |
I think it will be SO difficult not to run right over to them when I come home! That's the favorite part of my day. I feel like a million bucks when I come home & my two mental patients are there waiting for me. I'll try to ignore them for 1 minute tonight, but we'll see how it goes. No promises. I'd kind of rather clean up pee!! LOL |
LOL...I know Maximus scoots over to the gate on his booty ... only propelled by his front legs with his tail wagging and his ears all the way back..lol..and then when you pick him up it's like 10 minutes of kisses and excitement..Really the best part of my day!!!!..it's not to much pee either...and it never happens for me...only for other people odd huh? |

My boyfriend said he had done it for him when I wasn't home a couple of times. Then he did it for me on Friday. I came home in the middle of the day & I don't think he was expecting me. So he got extra excited! I think Maximus is just used to your routine, maybe? |
My sister's dog, Toby used to do this. When they walked inthe door they would not greet her. They just took her outside immediatly. Whenever someone came in their house and Toby came to the door they would say "don't talk to her!" If you were in the house a few minutes and then talked to her then she was fine! Tucker did this just once. It was kind of funny because he turned around and sniffed the carpet and then looked at me with, I swear, a look that said "Where did that come from?" |
That must be it...I am pretty boring I leave at the smae time and come home at the same time..but my bf comes at different times on the weekend depending on when he is hungry..unlike the rest of the week when he has to be on a feeding schedule for Maximus... |
wow tucker doesn't do that (yet) i hope he doesn't take after big tucker. lol. its good to know that he likes people though lol ;) |
