Yes. And continue to change until 2y/o. From what I read, at two they pretty much have their adult coat. Though there are always exceptions to every rule, and some continue to change in color past two.

I've read several of you use Pantene conditioner --- could I ask what particular formula you use --- or do they all work?

I'd like to try it for Archie who also has a rough coat. I suppose it would be called cotton. His hair is definitely much harder to manage than Willie's.

I usually use Milksheen or Cranberry Fields products to bathe them but have yet to find a conditioner that helps Archie's hair for longer than a couple of days.

I use the daily moisture renewal but I think any of them would be fine

My two are close to six months and I already see area's on their coats turning steel blue. Rickey has what I think is a cotton coat but he never looks greasy.
It also parts naturally in the middle. I call his coat fluffy instead of cottony. Because that is how it looks to me. It takes forever to brush him out and groom because he has so much hair. I'm going to let it grow out the first time to see how it looks. If it looks terrible them I am going to keep him in a puppy cut.
Noah on the other hand I wash, blow dry, brush, and go. His hair is very silky.

Show Breeders on here would advise: Never brush a dry coat.

Piper has a very wavy coat, so I keep it cut in a puppy cut. I tried letting it grow, but it always looks greasy, and won't part down his back.

My Joey and Karleigh both have cotton coats, I have to keep them in puppy cuts, they are just to much for me to manage, Ive tryed just about every conditoiner out there, except the panteen, think i will try it:) I dont mind the puppy cut, but with winter comming i would like to leave it a bit longer:)

Sissy is a cotton coat ..very soft..hardly every matts or gets greasy looking
I keep her cut short on the top back area that gradually goes into a
skirted bottom like a scottie. teddy bear legs and feet
her head..top is long cause her ears flop.and hair stay nice a straight
with out any trouble.
she has bangs/visor look with hair short around eyes and nose area for you can see her big round dark eyes
I used cowboy magic or mint and honey shampoo
I switch/rotate.. every other bath to protect her skin from drying out.
I bath her every week or has needed..brush her every other nite.
Now Lilly has the Thick straight yorkie hair..
BEAUTIFUL after her bath..two days later OH MY GOODNESS.. looks like I never bursh her or wash her..
where Sissy(cotton coat) hair last 2 weeks and stay looking soft and clean.
