Hi Everyone,

I've exhausted all measures in finding my new "fur" friend's owner; I have tried craigslist, the local newspapers, even google and finally yorkietalk. I'm hoping that the owner is a member of this site so that my yorkie can be reunited with his family.

Here are the details
1. Male Yorkie
2. Found on the first weekend in October
3. Picked him up on a small road in North Georgia (can't recall the name - was taking a short cut to visit friends within the area)

As you can see, I have left out important and distinguishing details, since I'm hoping the true owner would know;

1. How to describe his appearance (ie. not just coat, but any moles/markings that might appear on his body)
2. Whether he is neutered or not
3. An collar/leash information he might have been found with
4. Approximate age

I would love to reunite my yorkie with his true owner, but if that can not be accomplished, I will surely adopt him (since I can't say no to his precious eyes :) ).

Have you taken him to the vet to be scanned for a microchip? Posted flyers all over the area you found him and in areas of the town like grocery stores, walmart, etc?

The first thing I did was take him to the vet - but no luck there. But I haven't had a chance to go up to the area again (since its quite a bit away) but I did post a lost/found ad in the local newspaper there....I'm starting to think he wasn't wanted, since he didn't have a tag with name or number - he was almost hit by a car too, before he was rescued :(

I was going to say about the microchip also. Did he have a rabies tag on that could help identily him? I sure hope you can find his owners.

Just because he doesnt have tags doesnt mean hes unwanted. Mine never have a collar with tags on but they are microchipped

It could be an older or elderly person or persons that were traveling thru. They usually don't have their dogs microchipped or have a tag with dogs name and #. I see this ALL the time. They also aren't quick to see if the rascal jumps from the car when the door is opened. If it was an older couple, then by the time they realize they have no dog in the car, they could be in another state and not know where they lost it. They tend to stop every hour or so on trips.
I would figure if someone in the area where you found the dog, lost one, then they would have contacted the animal shelters and placed a lost ad. You may want to call the police station and shelters in the area you found the dog. Good luck to you, and I hope that little one finds his family. I'm sure he's really missing them.

Great idea - I'll contact the shelter and the police there first thing in the morning.

First off, it is very sweet of you to go out of your ways to find the owner. I think a lot of people would've just kept him (especially that he's a yorkie) for themselves. If you can't find the owner, I am sure you will give this little guy a great home. Good luck in the search.

Thanks BelwoBelwo, I was starting to feel a little assaulted (yes, I'm a tad bit sensitive) by some of comments as if I wasn't trying my best to find his owner - nice to know that not all of you feel that way :)

i don't think you were being assaulted. I think everyone was just trying to help by giving you reminders . i know you are doing your very best and you will have a nice little pet to love if he goes unclaimed.

Bless you for taking care of this precious lost Yorkie. How lucky this baby was to be found by you. Please keep us updated aboout your search for the owner; sounds like you are doing everything you can to reunite them. Whatever you do, do NOT take him to a shelter, even if it means him stayint with you for an extended period of time. There was a member here whose Yorkie, Maddie went missing in June. She was found by a man, who kept her and loved her until her Mommy Denise was led back to her, many, many weeks later. I hope you can do for this baby what that angel (his name is Lewis), did for Maddie and Denise.

I hope I didn't come off as sounding insensitive. :confused: I didn't mean it like that at all. I do think you are in a difficult situation and trying to do your best. :) Good Luck tomorrow when you call the shelter and the police. :goodluck:

I was hoping you would say "north Alabama." Someone I know lost their Yorkie, but he lives in north AL. I hope you find the owner.

Thats so great of you to try and find his owner. I hope that if his owners are loving him and missing him that they find you, If they are bad owners I hope that it works out that you can keep him. With so many people wanting and stilling Yorkies he could of come from another state too. Dont give out to much info on him,, or someone will act like he belonged to them. Good Luck hoping this baby gets the Family he deserves.

I know there are members on YT that have lost their Yorkies, I hope they see this thread and post a picture of their lost babys. It would be great if it was one of their babys that they have been looking for.

Can you put signs in the "area" you found him in? Like a lot of signs....

I'm sure someone is worried to death about him.

Don't put too much info on the sign, make them "know" what color collar, and if its male or female.

Might also want to try the vet, in case he is microchipped. Many of us do that now....as its easier to get them back once they disappear.

Omg, if it were one of my furkids, I would surely want him/her back. Mine do not wear collars, but are all microchipped.

Let us know if or when you find his parents, I will watch this site for more info on the little guy. and If you do not find them, he is lucky to have you...

Thank goodness God led that little guy to you! Either you will keep him safe until he's reunited with his family or you have rescued him from a bad life. Bless you, and please don't give up!

Just wondering.... if someone does try to claim him, would there be any records at their vet that would help support their claim to the little guy?
