Barking Advice Linus only barks when I leave him alone. I don't think he's scared, I just think he doesn't like to be alone. I've tried to get him to stop barking, but nothing works. The coins in a can and spray bottle just make him mad and make him bark even more. When he barks, and I say, "no," it just seems to reinforce that he should keep barking. I'm thinking about citronella collars, but they only make them for puppies over 6 lbs and 6 months old, which isn't Linus. I would appreciate any ideas! Thanks! |
Well I feel for ya! My Remy barked insanely from the day I brought her home at nine weeks. When she was about 12weeks old I got a visit from the city noise bylaw officer, it seems my bitch of a neighbour filed a complaint against me, so I ended up getting a citronella collar and putting it on her.Ya I felt bad whatching this 2 1/5 lb. puppy walk around with this thing around her neck , but I have to say that it has helped in curbing the barking. Remy just turned 10 months, she doesnt have to wear the collar that much anymore, I only put it on her if she starts to bark execessively, just as a reminder. Sometimes you have to do, what you have to do, to keep your sanity , to keep the neighbours happy....And to not get those hefty fines from the bylaw officer!:p Eileen |
I don't know if this will work for your Yorkie, but it worked for my parent's cocker spaniel Laika. My parents used one of those sonic collars, but she didn't put it on Laika, she hung it on the door close to his sleep area. Every time Laika would bark, the collar emits a high pitch sound. He hated hearing the sound so much that he stopped barking. They didn't use it for too long before Laika learned to not bark. Now that Laika knows better, they only pull out the collar when they have company over. Even without turning on the collar, Laika keeps quiet. |
