We took her to the vet several times and finally he suggested an x-ray even though she wasn't showing signs of a blockage. The pics showed a penny lodged near her small intestine, it was acting like a flapper valve. So, Lida had surgery to remove the penny. This was on Saturday, on Sunday the vet called for us to come and see her, he didn't think she would make it. But make it she did and we brought her home on Monday, the vet's assistant told us she was limping but didn't know why. We didn't care at the time. Soon, however, I noticed her chewing at one of her front paws and that it looked raw. We bandanged it up and took her back to the vet the next morning. It was like something out of a horror movie. When we removed the bandage, her little paw was coming apart, you could see the bones underneath the spot where the skin had broken. Thankfully, it didn't cause her any pain because the tissue was already dead. We think she either had a reaction to the anesthetic or her little body had already started shutting down. When that happens the extremities loose blood flow first and if denied too long start dying. She ended up loosing most of one paw and half of another. I have a picture that sort of shows it, most of the time unless she's moving, you can't tell. Lida was a puppy I found here on YT, I was devastated after my little Sophie passed away unexpectedly from an unknown condition, and I was so very happy that little Lida made it through. The only thing she can't do is sit, she has to sit like a prairie dog. Well, that's the story of my little momma. |
