Puppy Clipping Hello every. I was wondering if there is a certain age that you should have your Yorkie clipped. And if so what style do you go with or I guess what I am trying to ask is what style of clip do I tell my groomer I want when I take Rocco. Also, is it normal for my puppy to have "eye snot" which causes matting up around his eyes? Is there a cure for this because it also causes his sweet little face to smell bad. |
I'm sure others will chime in but I wipe Lucy's eyes everyday and comb around them to keep the crusties away. I keep Lucy in a puppy cut for the most part but leave the top longer for when I can talk her in to wearing a topknot :) |
Hi and welcome to YT! If you plan to grow the coat out long, when I take mine in I ask for just the ears to be tipped, and the feet trimmed and "sanitary trimmed" Sanitary trimmed is where they trim under the tail and on males a bit on the tummy. Ear tipping is where they shave just the top third of the ears to help keep the weight off so they stand up. Sonya |
Great post! I was wondering about this too. What age did you guys start getting your babies groomed? |
I waited until Lucy had her shots (I think you have to show proof to the groomers). Then I just had her bathed and nails clipped the first time so "the works" wouldn't freak her out. |
I have been grooming my new girl Callie at home, and I think I took Turbo to be trimmed when he was like, 5 months? As far as how to cut them...it is all dependant upon what you are wanting, his hair, and the weather (with winter coming up, I would keep him a bit longer). Hope that helps you, oh and I think a lot of groomers require a bordatella shot to be there too. |
LOL what you call snot, I call eye boogers, anyway, everyday I pick that stuff off from around their eyes, if you leave it on there it will rot the hair..you can take a warm cotton ball and wipe it everyday too.. |
