1st shots.....side effects? Im freaking out a bit. All 3 puppies have thrown up atleast once in the past few days. I didnt think anything of it at first, but now that all of them have thrown up its starting to worry me. On monday, they all got their 1st set of shots. Could this be what's causing it? Should I take them to the animal hospital? What could it be??? |
I don't think the shots would be causing this if they were on Monday..the vet says the reaction would occur within 24 hrs., but being that they are so tiny I would porbably take them to the vet JUST IN CASE....but I am not an expert..I just hope everything goes okay |
I wish I could help - but just want to say I hope they're ok....with three sick you have your hands full....I know when my girls got their shots they didn't feel good but it was the 24 hours after the shot...then they were fine. Hope they feel better...what a worry ! |
Thanks you two. I dunno what it could be. It's worrying the heck outta me. The vet doesnt have after hours. So all I have is the animal hospital. Im gonna call and ask them what they say. |
Is there temp. okay and are they acting like themselves otherwise?...I need to go see if Whispermom or Yorkie rose is on..they may have some idea!! |
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH PEOPLE THESSE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!! I just called the EMERGENCY hospital. I said "please help me I have 3 puppies that are 7 weeks old" and before I could finish the woman says "you'll have to hold im on the other line" Then she leavees me on hold. I sat for 5 minutes!!!!!!! I tried another EMERGENCY place too, but this time, I didnt even get to say a word..she just said "hold please" and let me there! All the vets are closed out here and do NOT do after hours. I dont know what to do. The other 2 pups are fine now but yoda is so sleepy. He just wants to be on me curled up in a little ball. He wont drink water, or even kiss me. |
I agree Heather - its HARD these days to get compassion or anyones attention sometimes - I dealt with the ER room when Chanel was a baby and found just showing up was the best way to go - They were really nice once face to face - I bet someone sees this who has lots of experience with puppies for you - they have all the good answers ! |
I just dont friggin get it. There's no way im driving 35 minutes to get there just for them to say "you'll have to wait ma'am" I just took his temp. It says 97.8. Is that normal? Low? i dont know what's normal for a puppy. Could it be from his puppy food? Should I switch him to something designed for small breeds? I didnt know there was so many kinds out there. I just buy puppy chow. They've been on this food for a week now. Even mom and dad eat it. Eek I dunno what to do. I just want babies to be back to normal *cries* |
I am sorry to hear that your puppies are not feeling well. Please keep us posted! Here we have several places that work after hours! I really cannot help you, hope they are better soon! |
Check the temps again. If this is accurate, they need to be warmed up. Their temp needs to be over 100.. They can become shocky if too cold. Sometimes their blood sugar is to low. Give them each a good squirt of Nutri stat or Nutrical. See if they perk up. If so, you might have found the problem. If not, check their gums -are they brightish pink or light pink to gray to white. Those are bad signs and tell you to take them to the vet. I would put them in an area together for warmth and stimulation to each other..Often the vet will order 1/2 ML of pepto. Make sure they have PLENTY of water as dehydration is a concern. But, do the temps first thing. Warm them if need be. Have someone else help you snuggle them and give the nutri products. I don't recall seeing that they have diarrhea so that is good. I don't think the shots are the cause, but they might havepicked up a bug in the vet's office. Pat and I tell people to visit the vet as little as possible. Go for problems and vaccines but ask them to take you to a room right away.. Let us know how they are doing. I hope this post is not a day late and a dollar short...LOL I would definitely call the vet first thing tomorrow and insist on coming in if they are still vomiting. And collect and take in a stool spec just in case.. They need to have their wee tummys rested so very little solid food. Maybe a real mushy food that they are used to and diluted with water. You are still feeding puppy food, right? |
I just want to make sure all is okay with the puppiea...all this tradgedy this weekend and I just want to make sure that your babies are okay....your guys are in my prayers |
Me too ...Checking in on your babies ..are they feeling better today ? |
Thank's everyone for all your help. The puppis seem to be doing much better today. Yoda was the one I was most worried about. The other 2 were up and about, playing and wrestling. Yoda, however, just wanted to sleep and would even drink water. I climbed in the attic and got out some baby gates as well as an air matteress. I block off the hallway so we were in a confined area. I slept in the hallway with them just to make sure I was right there, should something happen. I set up the heating pad incase they wanted that too. I was up most of the night. Every time I would soze off, id jump up. I was so afraid to sleep. Im not sure what caused the vomiting but they are all back to normal as of now. They are eating, drinking and playing. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know what I would have done if something happened to one of them. THanks again everyone, for helping me out. I really, really, really, really appreciate it! |
You are a GREAT mommy....and it is SO obvious how much you care about you babies...glad all is okay, maybe your "real" vet will have some insight into what may have made them sick...again glad everything is good by you!!!! |
