Arguing
 
Today, the DH and I had an argument. Bills, of course. This is rare. :rolleyes:

Well, Gracie and Katie seem to get VERY whenever this happens. Gracie curls up in the corner of the couch and Katie gets in bed. Now, usually, they're always hanging right underfoot. Katie got so upset, she threw up.

I was just wondering if any other little furbabies were as sensitive?

Oh, and the argument is over, we're normal again.:thumbup:

I think our furbabies get just as upset by fighting as real children would. I know I had a huge loud, yelling argument with my best friend one time and Lacy got so upset she threw up. I think they just get so nervous, upset, and worried from all the yelling. It scares them and they don't understand what is going on. Dogs can definitely feel when we are stressed and upset

You're right... they are just like children. Now that I know how our arguments... though rare... effect them, I'll be more careful.
BTW - of course, they're not really my fault... he's doing all the yelling! :rolleyes:

I know Max gets really upset when we argue (or even when my husband is complaining...he's just got one of those voices/attitudes that sounds like he's eternally angry)...he's never thrown up over it yet, but it sure wouldn't surprise me. Whenever my husband starts yelling at me, little Max runs over to me and tries to jump up on me and when I pick him up, he licks my face, hehe. So sweet. They know, I'm sure. My dh has a habit of getting mad over football or stupid stuff on tv, and hollers over that too, which makes Max nervous I think. Luckily, dh is gone most of the week most of the time, so it's nice and quiet here usually:) . They're so sensitive, it makes me feel bad when he's scared. Unfortunately, my dh doesn't think BEFORE he raises his voice; he does love Max too.

I definitely think they can feel the tension. Whenever I fight with DH, the furbabies run right up to us, almost like they're telling us to stop arguing. Now if we have to "argue", I make us go to the car or basement, I felt so terrible that it stressed the furbabies.

If phil and I fight..Reece goes nuts and runs after him barking..no way anyone can raise their voice at ME!! lol..

OK, I guess we'll start arguing in the garage. Oh, but then all the neighbors will know we're arguing. Knowing the Yorkie girls, they'll be at the back door and hear it anyway and still get all upset. :confused:
Well, I'm glad to know we're not the only ones to upset our furbabies while arguing, but it is distressing to know how much it effects them.

Yorkies are the most sensitive breed I've ever known, and yes, when they are nervous or upset, they will either vomit, have diarrhea or both. There's never been any arguments between me and my hubby, but when Zada was having knee surgery, Azrael got so nervous she did vomit. I've also heard people say that when they kenneled their Yorkie, it got sick. They can be traumatized easily, even going to a groomer.

That reminds me one time me and Hubby was arguing and My two Yorkies was on my lap and my Mickey got down walked over to hubby and hiked his leg up and pissed on his leg. LOl Hubby was like WTH? and I was laughing so hard and hubby started laughing too. and Mickey was prancing around like he was so proud of what he did, he did get the argument stopped. Hes never done it again. but i allways tease hubby saying you better shut up or Ill send Mickey after you. lol

But yes I agree. these little ones feel every thing we do.

LOL go Mickey - you keep that dad in line! haha so cute

Thankfully my babies aren't effected by this. I'm rather dramatic... maybe they've been desensitized by my antics :rolleyes: We can hoot & holler all day and the pups will just come around like "are you done yet? I want to play ball" :)

when DH and I play fight the dogs both react Bella gets VERY protective over me and wont leave my side...lots of growling and whining. :) I think they know.

My Daisy was sitting on the back of the couch one day (big no no) and my mom caught her and yelled "Daisy, no no get off the couch!" She didn't say it too hurtful but, Daisy I guess got nervous and she threw up. Some dogs are just more sensitive than others I guess.
