Pet Expo today
 

I went today with Yorkiesmiles, and we had a great time! There were lots of vendors selling everything from cat litter to doggie clothes and treats, and even some booths with caged birds. We got lots of free stuff, and Emma and Milli got a new toy that squeaks and crinkles! They love it already!

Emma got to go with me, but Milli had to stay home. They said on the website that puppies weren't allowed, and she's not as patient as Emma is with those kinds of events, so she stayed home. My DH said she cried by the door for the first hour we were gone, because she wanted to go too and missed us:( Next time I'll have to bring both of them, I guess.

We also spent a good portion of our time there being "YorkieTalk Ambassadors", as we jokingly called ourselves. Every time we saw a yorkie, we would stop what we were doing and go and chat with them, and we met a lot of great people! We brought the YT business cards with us and handed them out to yorkie owners. It seems we may have quite a few new members from Iowa joining our YT Community, so if you see them around, please welcome them!

What a day we had! We were there for 5 hours and my 2 are exhausted. Well, Roxie's tired but she still is outside squirrel hunting, but Bubba's knocked out.

The Great Iowa Pet Expo was great! And I am surprised by how many yorkies were there! Hopefully, many of the people we met will join yt.

It's really too bad Milli didn't come, there were plenty of puppies there, and several new yorkie puppies under 6 mths old. We even met a couple, with a momma yorkie & her male puppy -- a short while later we saw this puppy with a different lady and she was preparing to buy it from the breeders! And they weren't exhibitors!

We watched a fascinating dog show with all dogs who were abused and/or rescues - these dogs were great. Roxie loved watching the dogs that caught frisbees -- and one place was handing out tiny frisbees - so now I guess I better go toss the frisbee and see if she'll go after it!

Great day, but the only bad thing it was inside and of course this is the one nice day we have had after nonstop rainy, cold days for a week - I think it was up to 80 or something.

Can't wait to see Suzy's pictures because we even met a Breiwer Terrier puppy who came to Iowa from a breeder in Virginia! Plus Suzy & Emma got their picture taken for the newspaper!

AWe, glad yall had a fun time!! I would love to go to something like that.

I'm jealous! That sounds like so much fun! I've always wanted to go to the HH Backer show in Chicago..maybe one day...

Umm....what is the pet expo? Is it a trade show for pets that only retailers can attend?

Sounds like you's really had a good time. :) I tried to go to a Pet Expo while I was in Las Vegas getting my son relocated there. I found out only retailers were allowed into the Expo. ( Groomers, Pet Store owners, etc...) I was so...disappointed that I couldn't get in. :( I think they should have one day of the show where the general public is allowed in. :thumbup:

This was an expo for people and pets - not for retailers. There were lots of rescues for different specialties there & some general rescues. Some were selling items, taking donations or doing raffles or silent auctions. One of the bigger rescues was sponsoring dog contests - like best bark, smile, trick, etc.

Then there were a lot of businesses there for pets - including folks who scoop doggie doo, pet sitters, doggie daycare, etc.

There were food companies giving out samples. Petco & Petsmart were there. Petco was giving out $5 coupons off $25 and a free toy for dogs or cats. There were some amazing princess bed makers, dog clothes, dog bakeries, etc.

Also, there was a local group of dogs performing and the Ultimate Canines - one of the dogs there holds a world record & at least one has been featured on Animal Plant on a show that has been reaired more than 65 times - because of the amazing change that happened with her.

Sounds like you had a terrific time!! We have a pet expo coming to Novi Michigan next month but pets aren't allowed. I will be going and I am just telling myself that this way I can buy more surprises for the three of them. :)
