just warning you kinda yucky ok yeah this is yucky but i am wondering bc i cant help but wonder. tj's testicles still haven't "dropped" he is 9 mo. old but like normal he was humping away earlier and his lipstick came out..... i saw his testicles outside his body why cant i see them normally? and does this mean i should still get him neutered he is perfect AKC standard and have talked to a very good breeder and want to stud him?? opinions please sorry if i yuckied someone out?!?! |
One of my boys didnt drop until he was 8 months. I was sweating that one out!!!!!! Did you have the vet check him??? |
If they haven't dropped by now, they are most likely not going to on their own. It's called Cryptorchidism and it is genetic. The "testicles' you thought you saw when he was arroused were most likely not testicles at all but the bulb of the penis that swells when they start to have an erection. You even more so want to neuter a cryptorchid dog because they have 10times the chance of developing cancer with their testicles trapped inside of their abdomen. Also, a cryptorchid is not fertile because the the testicle being in the abdomen causes the sperm to be in an environment that is too hot for it to be viable. You would not want to breed a cryptorchid dog if possible either because it is genetic and something you don't want to pass on in the lines... |
My pup was nuetered at 7 months and had one testicle that never dropped. The vet had to "pop" out the one that was hidden. She told me at that time I should contact his breeder and let her know this had happened as it was information she should have for her breeding program. Evidently it is a genetic thing -- so it also might make your puppy ineligible to breed (but I am by no means and expert on this, so don't quote me!). Good luck! |

We had the same situation with our little guy Hank. His testicles were retained and had to be removed surgically. In fact he had bladder stones at one point and they did both the surgeries at the same time. That saved him from having to have two surgeries. He did fine. We were also advised about the cancer risk by a couple of vets. He could never have been a dad but we weren't planning on breeding anyway. He did just great after the surgery. |
i definatley wont breed him if they dont drop becuase i have heard of the genetic disorder before. i was just curious what i was seeing. i am a med student so i guees i am just interested in anotamy lol i hope i didnt weird anyone out. i want to know more about this injection because tj's mommy and daddy are having puppies this week and i am gonig to be getting another one i am wondering if i should try this injection. only if it is 100% safe though!! at what age should i get TJ neutered he is only 3 ibs so i worry about anesthesia! i love you guys thanks!!! |
You can get him neutered at 6 months old |
You can have him neutered now. Any weight over 2lbs is supposed to be safe. I'd have a consultation with the vet to see what they suggest - if they think its better go ahead and do the surgery now or if there is any chance his testicles might drop..I doubt they will though. It's going to be a more invasive surgery like a spay since they are in his abdomen so the surgery will cost more than a regular neuter. |
even if he is so small? |
There are alot of yorkies on here his size that have been spayed or neutered |

lol i just worry he is like my child (which i know is normal here lol) with my husband deployed to iraq he is all i have!! ok i will make an appointment this week. thanks!!! |
thanks guys! so helpful |
My Jasper is a crypt orchhid and recently had his surgury and neuter, his lipstick showed and still does. you will want to have your guy neutered and depending on his conition and your vet"s recomendation, surgury as well.God forbid you dont want your pup to get cancer. My Jasper"s testicles wre in his tummy. When a male pups testicles dont desend by 12 weeks its usually a red flag. Good luck with your little guy. I went thru a lot of worry but everything is ok now, just am trying to gt him to leave his stiches alone till they are removed. |
when you get a well puppy check by your vet when you get a pup, on the males they can usually tell if the testicles are in the right spot. My vet checked skoshi at his first time at the vet for his well puppy check and that was when he was like 9 weeks and they told us his were in the right positions and his are dropped and he is 10months also if you are getting the new pup to breed after this situation i wouldnt get a pup from the same parents. that is only if you are thinking of breeding it wether its male or female!!! Since it is passed down in genes that means if you breed the pup from this little then their pups might get it. If you are buying as a pet then i think you should still consider buying the pup. But definately let your breeder know about this. |
Yay I learned something new today!!!! |
