Bella's home from the vet Her spay went well. She was soooo happy to see me, jumping up and everything. And she was so excited, she jumped in the back seat before I had a chance to help her -cringe- Then she cried allllll the way home. I got her out of the car and as I was trying to set her down, she jumped -another cringe- and didn't harm herself but I'm sure it hurt. From there, she's been her normal self. She hasn't been bothering her sutures so I haven't put her onesie on. I may tomorrow while I'm at work while she's crated. Or is that a bad idea? Also the vet said she can return to normal activity in 2 weeks! She doesn't seem like she's in any pain. But I've blocked off the stairs so she can't do her zoomies up and down and I've been trying to keep her quiet. Bridget (my lab) was back to 'normal' within a few days. I understand she's a bigger dog and she has a high pain tolerence. But 2 weeks seems like a long time. I got pain pills for her. The vet gave her one this morning. Should I give them in the morning? Or wait until I get home from work? |
I'm glad everything went well with her surgery!!! Welcome Home Bella!! |
Glad she's home safely. The pain pills make them not feel the pain and they can overdo the activity. I would see if she is acting in pain in the morning and then give her one. Did the vet say to use as needed? |
My vet said he did not want to give her pain meds if she was not in too much pain....was afraid she would over do it if she felt no pain. |
she's all bouncing around and happy today, doesn't look like she's in any pain. (tho some dogs hide it) She seems a tad stiff going up and down stairs (I've got them blocked off so she can't just zoom up and down them) and when she hops up on the coach, but yeah, otherwise fine. I didn't give her one this morning since I didn't want to leave her crated and medicated. If she seems to be hurting tonight, I'll give her one when I can watch her. Otherwise, I won't. :) |
my Bella is sending puppy kisses... hoping your Bella is up and running soon!!!:animal36 |
Penny didn't get any pain pills, and she's acting like nothing ever happened. I had to lock her up in the bathroom, so she couldn't jump on the furniture. |
