Question I have two yorkies. One male who is 10 years old he is not fixed and My female who is 20 weeks, I'm worried about what to do when she goes into heat. Does anyone have any suggestions??? |
After your female turns 4 months (which I guess is now) keep them separate until 6 months and get her spayed. If she is too small to spay, neuter the male. That could be done now if he is in good health. |
Have her spayed by the time she turns 6 months. A lot of vets will do spays from 16 weeks on as long as the dog is 2lbs or more so you could even go ahead and have her spayed now. I wouldn't have an intact female and male in my house... |
He's 10 years old Even if he's ten years old can I still have him fixed??? She's not even 2 full pounds yet |
I agree neuter the male, and when the female's old enough get her spayed. |
I would neurter the male. I believe that you can do it late in life. I would not see the problem. Call your vet and see what they say. |
Age for neutering shouldn't be a problem as long as he is healthy. Your little girl can come into heat anywhere from 6 months to almost a year old. Having your boy neutered may stop him from marking especially since there is a female in the house. |
