Babies driving mom NUTS!!!!! HELP! Hi all, I have 2 lovely little boys (furbabies) they are litermates, brothers and have not been seperated since birth. They are my babies and I adore them sooooo very much, but lately, OOOHHHHHH MMMAAANNNN!!!! They are sooooooo JEALOUS of each other!! They beg for my attention and they want me to pet them with BOTH hands, I am not allowed to pet them both using one hand on each, they paw at the hand that is petting the other one. They BOTH want my lap, they BOTH want the SAME toy, the same spot on the bed next to me, the same EVERYTHING!!!! I can't take it, I don't know how to fix it!!! I throw a toy to my little guy and my bigger guy SCARES the crap out of the little guy to get the to the toy first! I feel bad bc the little guy never played with toys and suddenly he started to and his brother totally takes that away from him!!! Oh and they don't let me do ANYTHING at all, blow dry my hair, nope. Cook, nope. Do dishes, nope. Go to the freakin bathroom, NOPE!! They fight to Both get on my lap while Im peeing!!!! What can I do to stop this jealousy and constant need for attention? Im desperate here!!! I love them to bits & pieces but I cannot stop doing housework and hygiene bc they whine, cry, beg, jump and fight to be in my arms or on my lap all the time!!! |
wow... did I do something to upset everyone????? |
LOL! No, I don't think you upset anyone.:) If you get advise, would you share? I have 5 that all want attention at the same time! Sleeping is a nightmare. DH and I took the RV out last week; we ended up sleeping in 2 beds cause the little monkies think everything is about them! Course, DH got sleep and I got 5 babies all over me!:D Ain't life great! |
Their behavior sound really extreme and I don't know what to tell you. Adie is jealous of Cassie but she stops acting up the minute I say something to her. Have you tried dominant behavior with them? I saw on TV not too many nights ago that Mama dogs growl in a real low tone when their puppies are doing something they don't like. The woman that was getting the lesson tried it and it worked right off the bat. I think I would just grab them by the scruff of the neck and tell them "no" in a stern voice. Good luck. |
Oh, I know how you feel! I have three and they all want to be the center of attention. A friend went out of town last week so I had ZsaZsa's sister Chloe for four days too. She joined right in with the rest of the crew, funny trying to hold 4 pups sitting at the computer typing. I try to give some individual attention to each of them everyday. They have alone time when I brush them and usually carry one of them around with me if I go check the mail or whatever. Just love'm they'll be fine. ( and you will too :) ) |
Ive held fletcher (my big guy) on his back, holding him down, while I throw the toy to Dexter, but fletcher just goes MENTAL and Im afraid hes going to get hurt, like hurt his back. I really am concerned over this behavior! They don't fight or anything thank god, and they don't nip at each other, nothing like that... they just want ME all to themselves and its just hard on ME more than anything! :( |

Has this just started? Or has it always been this way but just getting worse? |
How old are they? Are they neutered? |
Its been getting worse in the last 6 months or so... I don't know if its because I was really busy this summer and they feel that they didn't get enough attention from me or what... but they are 2 years old now. I just don't know what to do about it. How to help Fletch let Dex play, how to keep them occupied. I try to find toys and treats that might keep them busy but NOTHING keeps them busy for more than ooohhh 30 seconds! Then they are back to whining, crying, jumping on me, following me, pawing at me.... aaarrrgggg Dex is neutered, Fletch is not. But in all honesty, Dex is the worse one for needing ALL my attention. He got worse after he got neutered... his carefree attitude went out the window with his ... well you know what... LOL |
TJ is the one that wants all the attention. He loves to play and has to have every toy. If I throw Roxy a toy - TJ slams into her for that toy. It sucks b/c Roxy will NOT play with me. She has gotten attacked too many times in the past. Roxy is shy and she has slowly started to come out of her shell. She now plays with a toy by herself. TJ has also stoped the vicious attacks against Roxy. He actually now lets Roxy attack him - of course this roll reversal is only play, but he lets her bit his neck and bring him down to the ground. They do this everyday and I think this has boosted Roxy's confidence. If I am on the couch or on the computer, they both have to be right their and TJ cries and barks if I don't pay attention to him. I don't know. I think we just have a bunch of SPOILED BRATS on our hands...heheheheh :D |

OH and if I have company and someone wants to hold Dexter (everyone does cuz hes so small) well there is NO WAY!! They pick him up and he STARES at me the whole time and whines and tries to get to me until the person just hands him to me. I am the only one (besides my mom) who is allowed to hold him! Its just a bit odd to me! |
Well I'm glad I'm not alone. Penny's the biggest attention hog. It's hard to love on four dogs at one time, but that's what I try to do. I use my hands and my feet. |
I think its just natural for them to want attention and be jealous, just like children....all of mine are attention hogs....one is 2 1/2 years old, one is 2 years and the last one is 7 mos...they all fight to get on my lap, in the bed, in the bathroom, they watch me take a shower...LOL...but, i make sure to spend a little time with each doing something with them like brushing one, playing fetch with the other, and just take turns....mine have learned, plus i voice it also, like "no, it's not your turn, we have to take turns.." i know they understand me....and it may take some time with them, but just love them and play with each...they will learn. yorkiemomma7 |
I think Cesar recommends lots of excercise when you are having issues like this. Do you go for long walks through your neighborhood, that might wear them out enough for you to get some stuff done for yourself once you get back. Mine are always ready for a nap when we get home. Good luck! :) |
