Ellie's Bile Acid Recheck Results are in. and they are pretty well normal!!!!!1:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) I am sooooooooo happy. Her ALT which tested at 118 last time is back down to 43. Her preprandial bile acid last time was 4.1 and this time is about 8. Her postprandial bile acid last time was 47 and is now 15.?. She seemed to be getting a UTI but the urine looks good (we will culture anyway to make sure). There is no need for an ultrasound or biopsy right now since those numbers are too low for a shunt and Ellie doesn't really have symptoms. So we stay with the Denosyl, Vitamin E and diet change. Now we have to talk about spaying her though.:( The only concern is with possible MVD and the anesthesia and pain meds but we should be able to get around that. I'm so relieved. |
Congratulations on the wonderful news, that is so exciting!!!! |
Thats great news, must be a real relief :) |
That's wonderful. I need to get Chloe's retest done sometime too. Curious...had you made any changes to her diet, or just a retest at a later date? |
:bravo: :bravo: :bravo: I am so happy for you and Ellie! |
Yes, we did change diet. We went to no more than 20% protein (or about 2-3 grams of protein per kg of body weight daily) in her food. The Royal Canin made her itchy so we switched to Dr. Dodds with egg instead of fish. |
How exciting! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: I was hoping for a miracle too with TJ and Roxy - but we still have abnormal #s :( August - Roxy Pre = 43 and Post = 100.9 October Pre = 10 and Post = 64 August - TJ Pre = 10 and Post = 43 October Pre = 67 and Post = 21.5 We are still sticking to a special diet and supplements. I will have their Bile Acids tested again in 3 months! I hope they go down even further! |
Yeah!! So happy for you :) |
Thatas wonderful im sure everyone is relieved Megan |
TLC, I'm sorry your results aren't better.:( I am trying to decide now whether we will do a biopsy while Ellie is under to be safe. I"m leaning toward no just because I would probably have to take Ellie to a specialist for it which I want to avoid. I really like her vet now. Of course, if we need to do one we will but with numbers like these I don't know if we should. Since the lower protein diet is working anyway we can just do about 20% for her. That Should be acceptable for both a normal dog and one with liver disease with no HE symptoms. Besides there is some risk to the procedure... Decisions, Decisions. |
Yipee!! So glad Ellie's numbers went down! You must be excited! I hope everything goes well with the spay. |
THat's great! I'm so happy for Ellie and you :) |
