Yorkies weight I have a favorite, that says what a small breeds puppies weight should be full grown...Breeders can give you an approximate of the puppies weight when full grown, must breeders will tell you, it's only an estimate, but , remember, it's just an estimate...I was told my Haley(now going on 5 years old) was going to be 4 lbs. full grown, she was 2 lbs at 12 weeks, well, guess what her weight is now at almost 5 years? She's 14.1 pounds...Remember, years ago, they used to breed them to be bigger, and sometimes you get a throw back..sometimes the runt of the litter becomes the biggest, and the biggest ends up being the smallest..so please, just remember this..we can't expect breeders to know, so we shouldn't really even question them on this subject..I know a lot of yorkie breeders(heck I'm getting my little guy from one), and all she ever says is this is a estimate/guess, and shes a good breeder for saying this.... |

As you said....A good breeder can only estimate and not even that....Each line is different. |
I have one that was 12 oz at 8 weeks and is 6lbs now and another that was a lb at 6 weeks that is 11 lbs now. You never know |
Isn't this the truth, they make a liar out of you..I learned to stay away from breeders that say, he/she is going to weigh this much...:D to say, they could be around such and such a weight is one thing, but, when they come out and say, they're going to weigh this much, I back away real quick:D |

Well maybe this is good news for little Natalie and I and I'll get my little 5 lb baby yet!!! haha! (if not, that's alright too though!) Do they tend to grow much after 5 or 6 months old? Natalie has pretty long legs - but TINY... they're like itsy bitsy little sticks... about as big around as a #2 pencil.... She also has a pretty long body I'd say... when I stretch her out - from neck to where her tail SHOULD be... she's about 7 inches. When I picked her up at 11 weeks old, she weighed a pitiful 13 ounces (not so much from being small, just very thin!) - - now at 23 weeks old, she has gained 11 ounces... almost her entire 11 week old body weight!! She was gaining pretty steady for the first several weeks but about two weeks ago, just kinda' leveled out at 1.5 lbs. Still eating and drinking, as I syringe feed her every few hours to be certain... and she's doing beautifully - just stopped gaining. Our vet says that being that Natalie is already a week away from her 6 month birthday - she'll likely be 2 lbs or less, grown. Do you all tend to agree with that? Or do you think if we keep working at it, we can bring her up to 4 lbs or more? (without causing her to be overweight). ~ Dena & Natalie ~ |

Your lil Natalie will be what she is gonna be. Just take care of her now and quit stressing (easier said than done). Each line is different. I have a line that grow and gain so much up front that by the time they are 3 months I think they are gonna be huge.....they pretty much stop gaining at about 5 months and then just do growth spurts with no weight gain. |
well, my little 4 lb yorkie was about 7 lbs at 2 years and now 14.1, so, she hit her growth spurt after she was 2...that's the thing, we just NEVER know....! |
::laffin':: Are you KIDDING??? Don't STRESS??? hehehe.... I'm a mother of five children and six furbabies.... All I DO is STRESS!!!! :p It's how I relax! ::gigglin':: :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa |

I just got a little boy, he is 11wks today & weighs 2lbs, but the breeder was leaving wet & dry food out 24/7 so his little belly is dragging the floor,lol. He is to cute. As far as his adult weight......we'll see:rolleyes: |
Tilula was 11months old when I got her, she weights 4.7 at 2 years. She was definately under weight when I got her. |
When they're big, there is more of them to love..:) |
Pixie is 19 weeks today and is just under 2 pounds, she has a fantastic apetite which is encouraging ans seems to be gaining well....i really hope she gets to 3 or more..she has such a tiny frame though :eek: |
My little guy just turned 14 weeks and he is 3.5 pounds...the breeder said he would be about 5 pounds...somehow I don't think that will be the case...LOL But thats ok though. I had a dog before that was about 14 pounds and I loved her just as much whatever size she was...as long as he doesn't become overweight and unhealty I am ok with a bigger dog:) :D |
