I would absolutely want to make this exchange and soon! I'm sure you're smart enough to not send any money and not to meet with her alone but I would do it right away. I know you can find a better family for that doggie without making your baby suffer too long. |

The "As is" part that I put on there, I changed it for her when she bought the dog. She said that she wanted 30 days to be able to return the dog if her vet said that there were any problems. So I told her 14 days (I really did not trust her). She was talking my ear off and being a distraction which is ANOTHER reason why I think she was a scammer. So not paying attention I wrote on the contract, "If there are any problems with the dog, refund will be made or other arrangements. She has 14 days to take the dog to the vet or refund the dog". So yeaa I screwed myself. But I really feel that she had it in her mind to sue us before she even bought the dog. |

I agree that its best to get the dog back and find him a better home. He deserves that much from you. |
maybe this woman is just plain stupid and thinks that if she can come up with enough reasons ( ie. dog not healthy, not a purebred as represented etc.) to sue you she can get most of her money back AND get to keep the dog ! But this is just my suspicious mind at work ...LOL ! Eileen |
When you do the exchange, please have someone with you and do it in a public place. I would even recommend having her meet you in front of the police station and do it there. Also have some kind of paper/statement etc., saying that you are refunding her money and getting the dog back. Perhaps if you could make the exchange in front of the police station you could also get an officer to come out and witness the exchange, that way if theres ever any "question" you would have someone in addition to whomever you bring with you to verify things. Hoping everything goes smoothly for you. |
Update! Quote:
She responded with that I have until Oct 17th to refund her the cost of the dog. AND to boot now she is saying that he has a skin allergy and that I owe her ANOTHER $123 for the vet bill. She's calling over and over again. I have only discussed things via email with her that way everything is documented. Im waiting for my Mom to call me back before I go any further (she's a paralegal). Oh...and this lady stopped cc'g her attorney on her emails but Im still cc'g mine. I just want this whole thing over with. I don't want this law suit going into my public record or my credit report (can it do that?). I don't even want to bother taking him to my vet but she hasn't even provided me w/ proof from her vet AND she hasn't even mentioned having any paperwork from her vet. Something is really fishy! She's a scam artist @ work! I can't wait until this whole thing is over. AND to boot, she is threatening to have him DNA tested to see if he's a real yorkie. Don't the owners of his parents have to be willing to do that? I doubt that she will go that far. She's a real piece of work! |
I'd tell her to stop contacting you, and that because of her hostile and harassing behavior you'd feel more comfortable contacting an attorney to deal with this situation. Then I'd contact an attorney and have them negotiate the exchange. I know it'll cost you but it may end up saving you in the long run. Good luck. |
Give the moron back her money and make darn sure it is the same dog you gave her. Do you remember or can you identify him? She is UNFIT TO BE A DOG OWNER. She is a Moron just looking for cheap tricks to make a living thru hurting poor dogs. Get him a good home here and forget this witch. She will illtreat him or he may end up in the pound. She is UNFIT |
Why do you need documentation from her vet with a diagnosis before you refund her money and get the dog back? Why not just refund the money to get the dog away from her and find him a better home. As for the $123, I would ask for a vet bill there but I wouldn't require a diagnosis just to refund the original money she paid. |
I don't mean to be rude....BUT...Do you understand that there is an innocent life at stake here??? That Yorkie was your responsiblity. You mentioned that you had a weird feeling about this woman from the beginning? So why on earth did you release that poor innocent and helpless Yorkie to her??? And now this wanting a Vet Letter before you refund, PLEASE stop the nonsense and get that Yorkie back from this crazy person! I just can not understand how you can let precious time go by. Tell her you will refund her the $600 and get the Yorkie back. Ask her for the Vet bill she is talking about - And honestly, if she has one and it is for a skin allergy, than try to settle it - either pay half or just pay the darn thing. This is not a stuffed animal we are talking about, this is a life and he may be in danger, all over a lousy $600 - Gosh, I just wouldn't be able to sleep at night :( |

Perfectly said. Didnt you see the lady who gave away her Mustang convertible as a reward to get her English Bulldog back home safely? That is love, get this puppy back from that lunatic and give her what ever money she is bitching about long as she has a ligitimate receipt. Damned, I would take the dog if I could, but now i am getting one already:( |

It appears that this is how this woman makes her living, she is a con artist going around getting dogs like this and then harassing people for money. What a horrid creature. |

And why wouldn't you want the puppy back just because he won't be in a home where he's loved????? It's terribly sad that you care more about being sued than you do about the dog. Isn't pet breeding fun?! |
I'd refund her money and get that pup away from her! |
Any updates? I am worried about this furbaby and really think you need to just get him back and rehome him with a reputable family. I wouldn't worry about the diagnosis. I would just focus on getting him back. It seems like the longer this goes on the more she is asking from you. |
Wonder what has happened? I got hit by a scammer a number of years ago, coming to my house to buy a Siamese kitten. She sued for $100,000 plus - long story. The last possible day before the court date, my homeowners insurance settled with her. The witch got $16,500 from my insurance company! She came into my house looking for money & she created it hugely by asking so many questions just like your scammer. She was 55 yrs old & had lived off others, the government, all of us for 30 yrs - course I didn't know that until deposition time, etc. Please be careful. Do the exchange with your attorney present, in his office. |

Wow! Now I'm curious what happened because I just don't understand how people buy pets and end up scamming them out of so much money! |

Keeping you and the yorkie in my thoughts. Please keep us updated.:aimeeyork |
Do hope you will do what is best for the pup, and rehome him. Threats are always exactly that ~ "threatening". You have to decide your plan and follow it to the letter. Hopefully, you have the puppy returned, she has her money and this story has a happy ending. Rehoming your pup should be easy, and I don't know of anyone who would spend the $$ on a DNA test unless you were expecting a show quality dog, and then it is questionable. She wanted too much information about your private matters and going forward, be very wary of people who step beyond the bounds of common questions. |
i have read all the replies here and its an excellent advise.. eventho u dont want to give the money back, i think its the BEST to do that. if i were u, i would just forget about the vet letter and meet her somewhere in public (or at a DARK alley w/big guys) j/k.. also have a notarize document/letter, for proof incase she does something fishy. by the way does she know where u live?? if si pls handle it in a nice manners, i know u dont want to but she knows where u live! I got hit by a scammer a number of years ago, coming to my house to buy a Siamese kitten. She sued for $100,000 plus - long story. Did it go under property claim? Sorry to go off subject :p |
People are just sooooooooooooooo weird now. I used to enjoy people looking at my puppies, but now, I have them look at them on the front porch. There are so many scammers that all they are actually looking for is to see your belongings and security systems to steel at a different time in the future. Just cant trust anyone nowadays. I had a similar scam happen to me. They told me the puppy was full of ear mites per their vet. But, supposedly, they were too small for me to see.?????The vet said that I wouldnt have even known they were there. I offered to pay for the vet and refund the money and get the puppy back. But, nooooooooooooo, they wanted a complete refund plus keep the puppy. I said absolutely not, that it was one or the other, and they were not getting a puppy for free. About a month later, they called the sheriff office and animal control on me. Funny, they came, looked and played with my dogs. Had a great time too!!!!! Please just get your puppy back. After that, put a restraining order on her if she keeps harrassing you. Best of luck!!! |
OMG I afree with you Quote:
