Molly had 7 puppies! Molly's puppies starded out at 10:48 a.m. and the seventh was born at 2:50 pm. we have 6 boys and 1 girl. The girl was born first! They all weigh around 3.5 oz to 5 oz. I'll have better weights later. The 7th puppy had a little trouble with the cord, he is a fighter though. But he needs a lot of prayer! |
Congrats...can't wait to see pics. |
molly and her pups are all sleeping now. #7 took her nipple but only for a short time... he is moving around and searching so I hope that is a good sign. How often should I check on them tonight? That is if I even sleep:p |
With seven I would probably say VERY often--probably about every half hour to hour...but I'm no expert...:p |
Wow! Congrats!!! I will be praying that all do well. |
Wow congratulations! I will keep them all in my prayers |

Wow ... 7 babies!!! Their mama must be exhausted! Congrats on your litter! :D |
I sure hope the littlest one is doing better. He and the rest of the babies are in my prayers. |
Congratulations!! I sure hope the little guy pulls through okay. |
What you need to do is move the larger ones away until you find him a nice fat teat, then put the others on. Make sure he is latching on and continue to supplement until he gets strong enough to hold his own. Get some Nutradrops and put one drop on his tongue every few hours. Also, with such a large litter, make sure your mamaa gets plenty of calcuim. I give mine a TBSP. cottage cheese in the morning mixed in with wet puppy food, then next meal, I give her a Tabsp of whelping pudding mixed in with the wet, then I give her another meal of just wet food and last thing at night, I give herr the calcuim pill from the vet mashed up in more wet food. I also leave dry puppy food down for mama at all times. Congratulations on your litter. keep them good and warm. How is the little guy doing this morning? |
Congratulations!! i know what you are doing right now...our litter of 7 is 12 weeks old and we had such fun raising them. I agree that the Mom should get the extra feedings, and I did that for Lexie for the whole time she nursed the puppies. Our Lexie also free whelped all 7 and she looked so tired all the time, but nursed all 7 for the first 4 weeks before I started to supplement the babies. They were weaned at 5 weeks, which is the earliest one of my litters have been weaned, but we have all healthy puppies that are now going to forever home as we speak. I hope you are ready for the work of this big litter. I was at home the first 4 weeks, but then went back to work, and I found it very hard to give them the attention they need and get the required sleep, but I made it through. If you need anything, or have a question/concern that I can help with, please email me ImCKN@aol.com or PM me. Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures, I know how precious you puppy piles will look!!! |
Congratulations on your litter. |

we lost our little guy We lost #7 around 4:30 in the am. He tried to hold on. We all feel so sad today! Momma is eat well and is focused on the remaining 6. The vet called me today to check on everyone! Aside from our loss he said everyone else sounds like they are doing great. Molly is doing everything just as she should. Thanks again for all of your input! |
I'm so sorry you lost the little guy...:( It is hard to loose one...It is good that the others are doing well though. |

puppy update I wanted to give you all a puppy update! I have been very busy with these little guys as you can imagine. This is day 10 for us and everyone seems to be doing well. I have been supplementing this one little boy that we call Little Bit. He went from 4 oz down to 3 1/2 oz. I just couldn't stand the thought of loosing another little guy. I weighed him today and he is back up to his original 4 oz. His brother, however, went from 5 oz at birth to 12 oz. Is that normal? The only little girl we have went from 4 oz to 7 1/2 0z. Then our other 3 boys went from an average of 4 oz to 9 oz. I'm not sure if this is normal weight gain or not but when they all are nestled up to mom, Little bit really stands out. I had their dew claws and tails done on the 17th and the vet said that all the puppies looked great and Little Bit had good energy he just needed to be supplemented because the others push him off. I can't believe how attached my husband has become to these little guys. I knew I would but he suprises me. Anyway when you supplement your little guys what have you had the best luck using? what type of milk replacer? and do you use a bottle, syringe or tube feed? and at what temp. do you serve it? All the advice you guys can give is greatly appreciated! |
