Vinnie's Birthday is on Halloween, it'll be his first, I am so excited!!!! We live an hour away from Petsmart, and when we were there tuesday I forgot to find him a special treat for his birthday. My sister had gotten her dog a little canned carrot cake there last year for his first. I can't find anything like that online and definitely there is nothing like that at any store near me........does anyone have any recipes I can use.....i simply can't get to petsmart again before Halloween!!!

Someone definetly will send you a recipe. I dont have one sorry. Do you have a Kroger near you? They have ice cream for dogs in the freezer isle. You can even try that.

We had a Kroger's until I was about 4...oddly enough I remember it!!! Unfortunately we don't anymore, but thank you!!!

I think shop rite has a doggy ice cream also. I know at least they used too.

I just found this recipe the other day...I haven't tried it yet, but I am going to.

PEANUT BUTTER CARROT CAKE
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Puree cottage cheese in a blender for icing. Decorate as you wish. If there are a lot of 'guests' :p , you could always double the recipe and use a bigger pan.

Nutro makes an Apple Tort and Carrot Cake and two other kinds, I can only find them in bulk unfortunately....has anyone ever tried these????

Yes - the other two are Berry Cobbler (Raja didn't like this one) and Pumpkin Crumble. My boy really likes the Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Crumble - he especially goes nuts for them when I warm it for a few seconds.

Do you have any bakery around willing to do a doggie cake? I'm using Bentley's Barkery for his 2nd birthday in January =) How cute are these?!

My town is pretty worthless when it comes to anything for pets, and we have no bakeries like that, just the ones in grocery stores. But it was a good suggestion, thank you!!! :)

If you can't make it to Petsmart, you can always go to their website & order.
Max's birthday is Halloween also, it's his 1st. We have a great family owned pet store here that has a bakery. I got Misha's cake there last year. You can also search the web for pet recipes. Betty's Mom, her recipe looks great. I think I might try that for Max.

I searched their website high and low, can't find it, and I definitely can't make it there, it's an hour away and my weekends are filled with events, I still can't believe i bought him everything else, except something like that and they were out of Halloween Bobo's - which they also don't have online - I was upset about that. How wonderful that Max's Birthday is also Halloween and it's also his first!!!!! Our babies were born the exact same day!!!

Found this website, it states that you have to buy 6 cans but for only $5.99. I personally could not find anywhere online that would sell just 1...guess you could have extras for special days like Christmas or Thanksgiving!

Aw, thank you so much I really appreciate that. But like you said If i buy in bulk then i'll have extras...and Vinnie deserves them!!!

5 yummy recipes =)

All ingredients seem easy to find at your local grocery except for carob - which Raja won't touch anyway, so I wouldn't especially recommend the carob cake.

While you're at the store just pick up birthday candles, who needs PetSmart?! :p

True......who needs petsmart! haha thank you for the recipe suggestions. And yes, there are a lot of October birthdays....i can remember a lot of new babies around the time I got mine! Yay for October birthdays!!! I am starting a post, like a forward, like a calendar to see how many there are.
