Yorkies are just hard to potty train in the first place... its seems as though you guys might be lacking consistancy with your pup. When we first got Meka, I would let her on our bed all the time - until she kept having accidents (and the hubby wasnt having it). There was a good month or so that she could not be on my bed... Then slowly I let her on the bed again - because she began to understand that to be able to get on the bed, she cant "potty"... and I have yet to have a problem. Infact, she will go to the edge of my bed and cry a little to let me know she has to "go". But, letting an "untrained" pup in your bed, is an invite for trouble... |
Part of the problem may be that he is not neutered.Angel is 9 months and he's peed twice on my bed. He is not neutered yet.I caught him the first time and he was deffinately marking the bed! He pees on the pee pad but a few times has marked corners. I got my other dog neutered around 9 months old and it helped tremendously! It's not a sure 100% that it will stop him from doing it but they tend to do it much less. Genie,Cookie,Lola & Angel |
Hello There! I use belly bands on mine when we go to someone else's house, and on my good friends dog when he I babysit him. He starts marking the minute he comes in my house even though he doesn't do it at home. I've notice that if I leave the pad on him for longer periods of time, his little belly gets irritated. So, if you use belly bands when he's out of his pen, just make sure you check the pad pretty often to see if it's wet. If it's any consolation, my boys are neutered and still mark occasionally. They have pee'd on my bed a couple times, it's usually when I have a down comforter on the bed.:( Good Luck with Toby!!!! |
2Parises, thanks so much for posting that information! I'm going to save it and keep it handy for when I get my little Kingston in a couple weeks :D |
I would just try from the start. I am sorry you having so much trouble. You just have to be patient. Try taking him out every half hour and then praise, praise with a differant voice. very excited one. and keep telling him good pottyas you are going to the door, then give him his treat there. That is what I did with Deiter and he will be 11 mons on the 18th. Knock on wood let me knock on my head..... there. We haven't had any accidents for 2 months now. But I always keep a wee wee pad out just in case. Good luck and keep us posted. |

JUST KIDDING! :D |
We moved into a house from an apartment where we had pee pad trained Vinnie when he was 8 months old.....July.....Vinnie housebroke himself....he started out in the new house still sleeping in the crate and now he sleeps with us, we leave a pee pad in the bedroom, but he doesn't use it, on occasion he pees on the bed, but never at night when we are in it, sometimes I think it just sneaks up on him, and sometimes when he's mad, I don't know what to do, i have been trying to find washable bedding, because it's happened too often and we don't notice a smell, i wash immediately with bleach, but his little nose is far more precise than ours.....it drives me crazy and I don't have a solution.....it doesn't happen enough for me to think it's anything more than an accident. I wouldn't pee pad train your baby now...it's great taking them outside...it's cheaper and easier to take them places!!!! |
